Anyone else in this forsaken blight of a land? ;-)

I have a tale of horror and woe, with a sad ending. Every day, I drive along Geneva road to school and work. Geneva road was home to the old Geneva Steel Mills, which are long since out of commission.

I've been watching them systematically dismantle and tear down buildings of such exquisite beauty, it has broken my heart bit by bit. And then it was down to one incredible building left, a vision of pipes and steam unparallelled.. I planned to take the camera and snap a picture.

Alas, the wife broke the camera. And alas, the building is now naught but rubble strewn across a desolate wasteland.

And still I drive this lonely road.

Here's someone else's photo gallery. Gone.. it's all gone. Except for the Air Liquide and white Gas buildings, which look to still be operating (separate businesses).  http://www.pbase.com/listorama/2004ut_geneva

Anyone know any other steam-y places in Utah I could visit?

I will be in Utah for the duration of the months of May and June, working and living down in Cedar City at the Utah Shakespearean Festival. I worked for them last year as well, and though we don't get a lot of free time (it's a 5.5-day workweek) i did enjoy exploring the various ghost towns and abandoned mining camps.

I am assuming you are up near/in Provo, by the mention of Geneva, yes? Were i up there, i'd check out the Kennecott open pit mine:

What Ho!  I currently reside in Salt Lake City myself.  Sadly, it seems most people in Utah are unaware that there is any thing between the time of Brigham Young and the present, turn of the last century being right out of course.  Lets just say I agree with Verne's summation of Utah in "Around the World in Eighty Days".
