Not a steampunk movie, but worth watching for the period flavour; My Fair Lady with Rex Harrison who turns in a fair performance as the slightly mad professor Higgins, and Wilfred Hyde-White who really is (was) a frightfully nice and very natural gentleman. Oh yes, and that Hepburn woman.  |

i watched robots the other night and thought it was totally steampunk. the massive clockwork door was awesome and it was all about mad adventures. i know it's a disney film, but i'd still highly recommend it. |

I have my issues with robots. I loved it an was annoyed by it at the same time. It was and still is one of the best looking CG films ever made, yet the animation of the robots themselves really bothered me. They were all far to "floaty" and not enough "klanky". They should feel like heavy characters made out of metal, yet they all moved like marrionetts! Thechnical nitpicking asie, it was still a fun movie to watch and reminded me ALOT of the Wizard of Oz i watched robots the other night and thought it was totally steampunk. the massive clockwork door was awesome and it was all about mad adventures. i know it's a disney film, but i'd still highly recommend it. |

ok has anyone thought of Stargate Atlantis? i know the actual series isnt steampunk, but what about the wraith? are they steampunk or cyberpunk? some of their weaponry certainly seems maybe steampunkish.

But a lovely movie [the Fall]. and *drool* Lee Pace (the piemaker guy in Pushing Daisies). watcht he movie all the way till the end and they show all these vintage stuntman footage and stuff of trains crashing ( although some fo the footage you know the guy has to get injured in casue they didnt ahve fall bags back than ). and the govenor odeus's minions were a bit steampunky with their martini henry rifles |

When my girlfriend and I went to see Mutant Chronicles on a Saturday afternoon(about a week or so after it had opened) we were the only people in the entire cinema for the entire performance. Even the ticket seller looked at us surprised when we asked for tickets. |

I don't know about that, while it doesn't have the outright Steampunkiness to it, it does have some elements in common with Steampunk. Mismatched, Anachronistic Clothing. Strange Machines, Objects and People where they don't belong. A havy baroque feel to the whole thing. It's not perfectly Steampunk, but all it's missing are a few more gears and gadgets really. While I did really like the movie, I thought it could have been much better. The story outside of the story wasn't that interesting, and I'm not very fond of directors/storytellers who eschew the imaginative realm for the realistic one seemingly out of a sense of artistic obligation, an unwillingness to make a full blown fantasy film. It doesn't totally ruin the movie for me, it just kind of... lowers it. |

The main character was very inventive and inquisitive. |

Theres a film thats gone straight to video (or should that be stright to DVD) over here. Franklyn Has plenty of Steampunk elements, a Baroque city and some amazing outfits. And has no one mentioned Barberella probaly more sci fi than steampunk but Jane Fondas weapons (all rayguns and fins) the Mecahnical Dolls, travel by Vacum tube, And Duran Durans, organ/orgasmattron machine.

ive seen barberella and admittidly it has to be seen for the sheer uber cheesines of it. My friend got me a copy fo it for my birthday back in june. Its probably been mentioned somewhere but the animated short " A Gentlemens Duel" would have to be in my top 10 of steampunk features casue well steampunk mechs are friggin awesome ..
