Didnt see it browsing the thread, but what about the film The Prestige with Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale? Besides being victorian its oh so steamy, with DAVID BOWIE playing Tesla!! Luved it.
'The Prestige' is absolutely my favorite film, steampunk or not. Bowie's presence is helpful, too.  Has anyone mentioned the anime series 'Last Exile'? I loved it when I first saw it; it was much more accessible for me than other anime, not being too technicolor or (dare I say it?) silly. |

Finally got to see Franklyn over the weekend..which the Countess and I really enjoyed. LOVED 'Meanwhile City' and really liked the uniforms of the Clerics... Just Watched this movie and was checking if it was on the list...I love Meanwhile City and the Rifle he builds at the end. |

First time I saw anything to do with Last Exile was about three weeks ago, when I ran across somebody's amv using Last Exile as the action sequencing for Abney Park's tune She. I love those Vanships, and those blocky green airships, and especially the battles. Is it still in circulation for sale? |

You should still be able to find Last Exile easily enough. Its a good example of Dieselpunk style and a very accessible adventure story by anime standards, though I found the 'hero' was a bit wet. I only wish the series had been around when I were a lad. The younger me would have lapped it up all the more.

Its funny when i was a kid I remember seeing Captain Nemo and his under water city. I was enamored by it. having seen it now 35 years later though the city exteriors and the bridge of the Nautilus are exceptional the sub itself and the interiors don't hold up as well. Still a great little movie.

I love to hate Dr Loveless and his incredible steampunk wheelchair (see its glory 3mins 15secs into video). What do you think? The Wild Wild West may have been reviewed as Vile Vile West and given a three asteroids (terrible) rating, but the aesthetics and steampunk elements are fantabulous!!!! ENJOY the clip

I know that it's TV and not a cinema release but has anyone else noticed the number of Steampunk friendly episodes there are in the Canadian series 'Murdoch Mysteries' set in Toronto circa 1895?
References to Tesla, H.G. Wells, dirigibles, Conan Doyle, Buffalo Bill, Jack The Ripper, Houdini, werewolves.....
I'm enjoying this a lot.

I'd recommend you watch it in French with Fnglish subtitles, the English soundtrack is terrible. It's dark, trippy and surrealist, with lots of brass, contraptions, brains in jars and mad scientists. |

although a bit odd as a honorable mention ihave to put "Sukiyaki Western Django" in there because of quentin tarantinos wheelchair. plus well the hand cranked gatling shotgun towards the end was neat. ( there would be a clip here however as im typing this youtube is apparently down)
