Went off to a town that I don't usually frequent for my lunch today, and in the first Charity shop, I found this: A very good tweed three-piece suit, in my exact size. And ANOTHER tweed three-piece, bloody marvellous! And in another Charity shop, I found a large album of 78 RPM records, to go with my wind-up gramophone.

I am so used to seeing Herr Doctor dressed up that when I looked at the first photo I thought he had found himself a rather nice little light switch.

RUN TO YOUR NEAREST THRIFT OR CHARITY SHOP BEFORE THE LUCK RUNS OUT!!!!!! Pants are included but as I am already late on an errand I had to dress quickly. I got done paying my electric bill and was waiting for my bank to open. On a whim I ran into the thrift store. There is usually not much of interest to me as they never have vests. I saw this on the rack and took a huge gamble and did not even try it on because I didn't really have the time. (yet somehow I have the time to do this) It fits perfect! So yes, Herr Doktor may have started us on a nice lucky streak. Let us hope it lasts.

Ok,I was meaning that someone would of thought of you poorly and left you in the collection box-a 'second-hand' you. I love a charity shop, thrift store, antique store,etc.-I'm in one when ever I get the chance or,at least, whenever the Mrs. is busy Oh,and I do like a good steak and I only drink water ...well,mostly water.

The French style of drinking absinthe is mostly water. It fits so well I think either way you may have triggered something. Now if this rain can clear up tomorrow when I go over to pick up my bike, I am stopping by an antique mall. Perhaps it will continue and I will find myself there as well.

It was a real eye-opener to me visiting USA for the first time, in August, to find not only Thrift Shops which were like our charity shops but bigger and junkier (that's a compliment by the way) but also the posher "Consignment" shops of which I had previously never heard and which resembled the "Dress Agencies" of my youth. I think the latter in the UK died out about 30 years ago.
The american thrift shops were brilliant fun during our hols - we all bought loads of stuff.

LMAO MadUncle- I'm only now seeing this: I am so used to seeing Herr Doctor dressed up that when I looked at the first photo I thought he had found himself a rather nice little light switch. *wishing _I_ had said that* Had to go to the Goodwill today to gather makeup for the Homecoming float- and ran across this little dealie: I am again apologizing for the crappy phone camera - goodwill find by barb dwyer, on Flickr[/img] the barrel for my weapon!!!! And it shall have the weight I wanted as well. (the barrel is 8") for scale I have no further ideas (yet) I only took one glance and said - "hey! there's the barrel for my steamgun!" My friend was like, "wha?" SO - three bucks well spent this day!!!

BRASS SCREEN!
I finally was able to convince the shop manager at work to let me take a 1'X1.5' piece of the brass screen. I found this roll of screen under a table about a week ago. No one knew what it was for (it wasn't for anything); and with perseverance, bribes, and blackmail, persuaded the shop nanny to let me have some of it. He really doesn't need it for anything; he just didn't want me to have it. It’s about like window screen, only brass. What can I make from Brass screen? (I’m sure to come up with ideas, but you can make suggestions, anyhow).

A photo would be useful, if you can manage one.

Although my plans to attend a local Steampunk event today fell through, I did manage to nip on out to the local flea market and found a great deal on a smashing addition to my costuming hoard to compensate: Yeah, steel armor breastplate! Now, I just need to polish it up and pierce new holes in the straps (I'm short and not quite as broad as the person it was made for).
