Old little clamp thingies. No idea what to do with them

Love that old bottle. I think it's handmade.
And a silly little pen thing.

I'd make your curtain clamps into skirt lifters Smiley

I thought the point of skirt lifters (although I havent used them myself) was to have a wee cord round your wrist to the lifter so you could dance more elegantly?

Just purchased this through our local on-line junk yard. NZ $35. Supposedly a vintage street lamp shade.

Fell in love with the rather phallic large glass shape - Planning on using it for the center of a SP Tardis Console, or things in jars.
Any other suggestions?

Bless my friends.  They found all this stuff for me.  Smiley  I love my friends, may they be blessed.

**Note - Spoiler pics are large.**

The large brass bits are all from the same heavy cast chandelier.  The spoked thing is an old office stamp holder.  I love the wrinkle aqua paint coat on the base of it.  The other stuff is clock and watch parts.

CUT UP???

Carefully unscrewed I hope.

Chandeliers do wield a large lot of useful threaded connector in all sorts of sizes.

Sort of like steampunk LEGO.

No the chandelier was partially disassembled.  I just finished disassembling it... carefully unscrewing everything.

Of course these friends of mine know I'll be using most of it to make things for them... Tongue

Oh yeah, I also ended up with these. My folks had them in their attic.  Apparently my grandpa used to buy them to use for melting plastic.  He used to make things out of plastic as a hobby apparently and this was one of the sets of tubes he never used.

clicky here for picture

This is the newest installment on the top of my bookshelves. About half of the stuff on there I bought yesterday (everything except: the mead bottle, the flowers themselves, and the globe....and ofcourse everything not on top of the closet).

Even though I cut the flowers already they`re still being smushed against the ceiling. Luckily, they`re fake.

I also still need contents for most of the empty bottles on there. Anyone have any ideas?  So far, one of them has Japanese tea and one of them has Bertie Bott`s  (I keep forgetting their actual name, so I tend to use the Harry Potter version, sorry about that).

I'd suggest putting "things in jars" in your jars. Make some creature like things, put them in the jars, add tainted water, an artificially aged label and a cork or wax seal, and admire Cheesy .

Quite alright my friend - I hope you have the sheer pleasure of disassembling a brass chandelier one day - it is most satisfying.

As far as recent finds go...

And the rest of the old steamer trunk looks good too!

It's an early christmas this year. One old school mate visited my place just today and look what kind of treasures he bringed in his car trunk!

http://taidetakomo.com/wip/treasure-pile1.jpg

His ladyfriend who lives in Helsinki telled some times ago that she knows old clocksmith who just retired and left the firm. There was only one another clocksmith left who wanted to move some smaller working place after that, so they had to throw most of their old junk away, but my friend got the place just right time and saved all this stuff before the dump truck. (Company started already in the 1920's, so i have great wishes that at least some of the broken clocks are that old..)

I'm very happy man now, because i had earlier some difficulties to find enough of clock mechanisms for steampunk projects, but this latest catch is so huge, that it's going to last almost a decade in my normal use.  Grin

A few months ago, I went to the local flea market and picked up a Victorian mourning locket, complete with an upside-down torch and hair art. I'm fortunate enough to know two people who deal with these items, and spoke to them before purchasing it. They told me that the asking price of $99 was very fair; after chatting with the seller and asking for his best price, I managed to purchase it for $70.

Note: The chain is mine, and was not purchased with the locket.

Absolutely beautiful find, Alice.  I notice that there is space for a miniature portrait, which is missing if it was ever there.  If I might make an humble suggestion, a nicely sepia-toned photograph of *yourself* in that space would be very much in keeping with your persona...

Again, nicely done.

A couple of nice finds at the car boot today!

A wind up alarm clock for £1.50, a rather nice copperish tree pendant (50p) a unmarked brooch (50p) and a miracle brooch (£1!!!) to add to my collection of brooches by that company...

I also got a diamond file for £1, which will come in handy, and a model of a tooth (£1)- I'm a biology teacher Tongue

I was rather pleased to find this today at a local 'dub fest (Volkswagen enthusiasts gathering that is!), not the most obvious place to find things of a steamy nature. It's a lovely old brass fire extinguisher, but I think it could serve as part of my cloudbusting paraphernalia.
