I spotted and bought a pair of Toledo fencing foils in nice shape for $14.00 (American). (They were crammed back in the rafters of the place and only the handles were showing.) Will look nice crossed on the wall!

As they say in the classics... 'Try doing that with a cheaper foil'. (Old Aussie advertisement for oven baking foil).

Interesting you mentioned aluminum foil for baking, as I was thinking the swords would make great barbecue skewers for a big party! (Don't worry, I won't.)

Maduncle, Nice haul. I've been trying to find some old headphones like that for a while. They tend to get pricey on ebay. I picked up some cool things myself this week. the one I thought I'd share is an old popgun. At first, I wasn't sure exactly what it was. It was just an old fairly interesting toy gun, that had a lever you pulled back that came forward when you pulled the trigger. When I got it home I noticed it had a mostly rotted cork in the barrel and realized it was a pop gun. I cleaned out the old cork and bought a new one and chain (more steampunk than string). Then painted all the metal gold.

Today's Charity Shop Haul, for the princely sum of £5 I have balls, I though they might come in useful for something. But they have me me quite inspired... especially after photographing them. Without flash... With Flash (now this is what inspired me and made me decide the £5 was definitely worth it)...

I am simply... speechless, Major. So many puns, so many ways to take that off into double entendre land...
But I am sure that is what you intended. Well played, sir.

Major, you definitely have a nice set of balls there - interested in seeing how you handle them. Here's a collective pikkie of my recent charity shop purchases. A broken brass Egyptian Water Pipe, complete with 2 leather smoking tuve 2 large brass tumblers 3 square EPNS napkin holders 4 round brass napkin holders 1 brass pot with handle/wings

I was cleaning out some boxes from last summer's buying season and got down to some boxes I bought as a lot. They were mostly un-checked as the seller just wanted them to be gone and asked for such a pittance I gave him what he wanted. They were to have a mix of 20's to 30's car parts, and misc. heat, vent, and air conditioning things (HVAC). They had all that, and I found this treasure: What is it?!? Why it is an air-driven gyro compass, probably 1940's WWII, from an airplane, not a car part at all! Just what my free-trader airship Corvus Eridani needed! No more stopping and asking directions. There was an ahh000ga horn in there, a couple of front headlight bars, and little hardware items for cars, and a bunch of vent-door actuators that are going to wind up on eBay. Who knew cleaning could be so fun! Cheers - g

Charity shop trolling this evening. Found a US Medical Corps Field Stove - Coleman's Model 523 MD. Great shape, spare parts containers and wrench still intact. Here is a picture of a similar one. I am pretty sure the carry case is intended as an autoclave. They show up on eBay occasionally for too much money. I paid $14.00 Cheers! Chas.

It wasn't there today.

Today for about 30$ i found an early "MEGGER" insulation tester. from two screw terminals it delivers 2,5 kV, enough for some pretty arcs. What a wonderful find - I am green with envy.

Interesting you mentioned aluminum foil for baking, as I was thinking the swords would make great barbecue skewers for a big party! (Don't worry, I won't.)
The heat would ruin any edge they've got.

Not really a Flea Market find, but on my way home from work I found a rusted connector from a fence or builders lorry. It is similar to the picture below but more adjustable (I have no idea what it ws really for so had trouble finding an acurate photo). It's amazing what you can get just by going for a walk and keeping your eyes on the floor. This is the same road where I found 2 fake fur coats stuck next to a bin and a broken doll (a great find for my shrunken head project). http://www.caphltd.com/products/53.jpg

I have quite a collection, found over the years with the intention of 'doing something' with them. I still have no idea what, so far...

Those things are awsome. I have a plastic one I got on holiday once (the picture of the Giants causeway is still just about visable on the lid). It lives in my bag and I take it just about everywhere, along with a pen and a folded up shopping bag. (and yes, I am a secrete government experiment to create a youthful granny hybrid)
