I was visiting my uncle yesterday working on my vacuum forming machine when my cousin stops in and hands me these. They are left handed and he said he thinks he can get me a right handed set too. My cousin knows me too well. More: oooh nice, butchers equipment I'm guessing?

And there I was thinking of the terrible things I could do WITH one of those... Nice pick up there Sulla, even just having one arm would allow you to then build up a rather large arm mounted weapon - I have always wanted to do a steampunk version of the waist mounted articulated heavy firearms worn in 'Aliens', your mesh garment would be a great part of that design.

I picked up a few items at an estate sale last weekend, two gauges and an old drill that could probably be converted to a ray gun. The smaller gauge was only $.50, the other two items were a few dollars each. The smaller gauge has older looking graphics and it's labeled for vacuum and pressure:

Yes, the drill is nice. It was $4 I believe. The middle bands that look black in the photo are actually dark blue. There's a piece missing from the bottom of the handle but I think I can fabricate something from wood.

Yep - some of the old cast metal drill bodies have great ray gun potential - just a bit heavy for one handed waving about with the motor still in there.

That drill is so much like a ray gun already that it scarcely qualifies as modding! great finds

Todays flea market find for one dollar. I like to think of it as a dragons eye. Around five inches in diameter, solid acrylic and a smoky pattern within. I need to buff it on my polishing wheel, I have already bolted two brass chandelier cups together to make an 'hourglass' stand for it. Next step is to fit batteries and LED's inside the brass stand that can throw some light inside the 'eye'.

Picked up a few items this weekend. Particulary like the "Steam Condensing" canvas bag and the miners lamp. The porcelian socket and lamp cord were being thrown out at the hotel I was staying at. Could have had hundreds, but timing was tight and little room in my suitcase. Maets the canvas case is for carrying the steam condensing hose for the M1917A1 Browning water cooled machinegun the hose went from the water jacket to a condensation can where the water was collected and recycled back to the water jacket..... (basicly poured back in)

I started using old spoons for own jewelry projects about 3 years ago and have found after that a lot of nice looking spoons and forks. Latest time was about two weeks ago when i find about 12-15 different nickel silver & brass tea spoons from local fleemarket only a 0,50 euro's a piece. In today i got the idea for taking photograph from the best looking ones, so there it is. Some of them are going to find good places probably in my coming pendant projects. I maybe mix them with brass gears and small gemstones. http://astalo.deviantart.com/art/Cutlery-stash-303369840

Just got back from the mother of all flea markets at the Dayont Hamvention. I managed to pick up a set of needle files I've been needing to fix the watch my mom got me for christmas, A nice pair of Koss headphones and a slightly worn Speed-X telegraph key. It needs stripped down, polished, and the base needs repainted, but functionally it's perfect. I'll probably post before and after restoration picks in tactile. Now all I need it the wire to hook said key up to the oscillator I built at the con, and I can practice CW on something other than my phone.

New bit of travelling furniture. Found a "Savonarola" or "Dante" chair http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X-chair in a charity store. The back does come off and it does fold up for storage or travelling. The cat appropriated it and slept on it for 4 hours as soon as I brought it in.

Not only do you have my chair, you have my CAT! - Actually, that one is slightly different from the two I own. I got them years ago; I think Zoffoli still makes them, and a matching chess/gaming table. They also make the large-globe-that-is-actually-a-bar, and that seems to be their main money-maker. I did get rid of the cushions that came with mine - cute, but uncomfortable. And they are slightly taller chairs than is usual - La Contessa likes a small footstool when sitting in one. Great find! Good that it has approval from the Household Manager, as well. Cheers! Chas.

A friend gave me a heads-up on a couple oak boxes at a garage sale. Both about 30" long. I'm gonna make legs to fit inside the boxes for traveling, and turn them into portable game tables inspired by Victorian campaign furniture.
