No so much a yard sale or flea market find, but now that friends are hearing I have a shop I am getting calls. Such as 'we are clearing out mums old place now she is in care, do you want two boxes of old dentists tools and three stuffed turtles'? So I went over to see the goods, and ended up with this lot for free. The old globe is circa 1890 and I need to fix the old cast base bracket, but the patina is superb. Oh - and not in shot but also included in the haul, a nearly perfect antique oak and milk glass insert travelling dentists tool box. As I said, all for free - but we will take our friends out to dinner as payment. And the dentists tools and turtles? Well, the tools were broken or not worth having and the poor old turtles were missing legs and looking a bit mangy, they needed a hole dug for them and a prayer said over them. But the rest of the gear was well worth the drive.

Heck of a good day at collecting. I picked up a few minor things today as well. Nothing close to your haul. Did get a rather nice accordion yesterday at an Estate auction, but I ended up wasting the day waiting for it.
@maduncle - Like the new raygun too.

My husband, my sister, and I went antiquing today. Had mixed success. The big mall that is our favorite had a pad lock on the doors and a note saying they were having a dispute with the landlord! Bummer! We went to a different mall and did find some things for our newly installed garden. Not strictly steampunk but a metal plant stand and a section of iron work to hang on the fence are sufficiently aged and rusty to have some vintage, maybe even Victorian character. We did buy one ornament for the garden on the internet which I think qualifies. An Armillary Sundial in polished brass.

I found a bunch of fun things at an estate sale today. Including some gauges: Some Nozzles: And whatever this is. It was worth it for the gears if nothing else. It appears to operate via a torsion spring in the drum. If someone can tell me what it actually is, I would be interested to know.

....................... This watchmaker's lathe is from the 1860's & bought for a song
Aaaargh!!!!!!!!! (I just dropped dead of jealousy) Resurrect man, resurrect! Your contributions would be missed at this forum! Sometimes stuff like this just drops in your lap. I got it very late in the day where the boot seller had forgotten it in the recesses of his car. He had nothing else like it and thought it was homemade. It did not look like this when I got it, it was covered in grease, muck, and years of forgotten cellar-storage detritus. I think that for the cleaning effort I put into it, I was deserving of the seller's low price. But, this is New England. As one of the oldest settled parts of the country, these types of things are still hidden away & awaiting.....me! [/quote] I've been away for quite a while now, but it's good to see someone misses my contributions You are one lucky B@$%^&#

Not exactly flea market finds, but more like "finds from around the house" I wish that leather jacket wasn't too large for me... My grandfather was a tall man.

I found these today: A hat or kilt pin it was explained to me, I think it translates to "Never not prepared" I have heard it translated "Never Not Unprepared." It could have been Semper Paratus - "Always Prepared" - but somebody like the Latin double negative. In the instance of Nunquam Non Paratus, not only is this motto used by at least half a dozen families named Johnson, Johnston, and Johnstone, but it is also the motto of Gibbs, Knight, Kerrick, Betton, and Skinner and of the Irish Clan Donoghue.

Yesterday, for the first time, I used my small picnic basket I found on my local flea marche for £1.00 sterling. Super Dooper item and indeedywoop for that price Another fabulous item I came across on the same flea marche is a electric table lamp in the victorian style of a lantern last year sometime....I got this for £5.00. And when I was buying it, I made a stupid mistake in retrospect. The trader offered me a genuine mink scarf for free since I was buying the lamp. I turned it away with the notion that I would not wear it since I am not one for lady's wears. I must have had too many wine gums on that day or something...I was hitting myself because I know a lady who would have suitted it immensely. One word...Bloodyhell! I shall not be doing that again

Iunno..... in this day and age, I'd be more concerned with by the risk of bedbugs. Bleh. I'll take fleas over bedbugs any day. More to the topic, this past week's awesome finds at Renninger's include an adorable little tea cup and saucer in black and white with a unique gold filigree upon them. I probably - no, definitely - overpaid, but it's worth it. I am super picky about tea cups. They're always either too plain and modern or too busy and tacky. This one is the perfect balance, and I intend to use it to make a steamy lady's traveling tea kit. No proper lady should be without a tea kit even in the field.

That's an absolutely cracking bicycle you have there. Is that a working carbide lamp on the front?

Even if the Faerie Dust infection didn’t kill seventeen year-old Crystal Ball it still might prove fatal as she and her friends are thrown into a full-scale hidden war fought between faeries and other infected humans known as the Dusted. Suddenly Crystal is trying to figure out her new dust-given powers as well as survive the hostility of both sides in the war as they try to either kill or recruit the trio.
