Sure, just rub it in.

Is this your permanent departure from Seattle?

yes it is, I'm going to miss Seattle, but my life is pulling me away. So in a fortnight I'll be speaking horrid Dutch pronounced in a German/Gaelic accent looking to see if I can spot Torvald in a crowd Smiley

Seattle will miss you too.

And, for everyone else reading this thread, the day of the meet-up plans with the PDX crew is unclear...their thread says "Saturday, May 30", but May 30 is a Friday. I have asked for clarification.

Perhaps I'll come down from Bellingham for it.  The antique shops here are a bit bare.

Cross-posting here and the SteamRats forum:

There has been discussion about taking the train down and back for this meet-up in Centralia. With it being on a Saturday, prices are even a bit cheaper than for Friday. All of the below train schedules are $18 per person each way ($36/person round trip):

Depart Seattle 7:30am, Arrive Centralia 9:16am
Depart Seattle 9:45am, Arrive Centralia 11:45am
Depart Seattle 11:20am, Arrive Centralia 1:03pm

Depart Centralia 4:17pm, Arrive Seattle 6:20pm
Depart Centralia 7:42pm, Arrive Seattle 9:45pm

PDX folks are talking about going in the morning, so I would say one of the earlier trains would be better.

Nice to meet you too.   Grin  I thought I saw another steampunk in town, but chalked it up to urban mirage.  Glad to not be alone up here.

Yes, they are rather expensive.  Even the used bookstores charge too much.  But hey, we can always find obscure movies for rent at that place downtown.  That's a plus, I guess.  Oooo... and that Museum of radio... and the clockworks exhibit at the big museum.  Okay, maybe this place balances out a bit.   Roll Eyes

right you are!  hadn't considered that.

might want to let everyone know about the Museum of Radio and Electricity...  very steamy indeed.  they have a working, play-with-it theremin.  lots of very cool and intriguing Tesla, Edison, Marconi, et al. type stuff.  cutting edge technology from the Victorian and Edwardian eras.  wonderful day trip for those who might live within a day's travel distance.

That's a fabulous idea!  There are plenty of fascinating locations here in "The City of Subdued Excitement".  Fairhaven has a few nice locations as well, or at least the (in)famous red phone booth.
