Mr Cranium has it: The more time, energy and effort (note I said nothing about money) spent on the actual construction, the better. Just you wait, sir! I'll show you how to REALLY do a raygun right!

Amazing paintjobs Lt. Mycroft! I was a nerfaholic [I can't live without my nerfahol], before I really got into steampunk, so I know how difficult a decent painjob can be, and those are definetly amazing.

Thank you sir, but the painting was not that bad, I cut my teeth painting warhammer 40k figs, so something is big was a walk in the park. I stll have to paint 1 more pistol yet.

I just looked at the original Nerf gun-talk about loud colors. Perhap's I should try something like this for my first gun.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the Hartraft Steam Volley Gun. Not the worlds best picture, granted, but I hope to have more soon (and better posed too).

Thank you my kind sir. I would sugest getting a modeling spray primer, (I used Games Workshop Chaos Black) first then add your paints, if you are carefull in removeing the screws if you mod the gun, on mine I cut out the cylnders swiing out stops so mine drops farther and spins freely. You can spray eveything then let it dry then paint everything. After you have done this get a clear coat I again used one of the Games Workshop line of a flat mate finish, note: this will change some of the colors abit just a "so you know" Untill later

I've found that sometimes, it's even better to stand behind a brick wall, about a block away from your work.

Thank you for all the comments. I suspect it will go through some minor cosmetic changes and tweaks here and there, but all in all I'm happy with it. I'll try to get some better pics for you all to see though.

Chaos Black is supposed to be a primer? The primer I have is their fuzzy grey stuff. and the flat finish, or even the gloss finish ('ardcoat) is also fuzzy, and DO NOT SPRAY IT ON CLEAR BITS!!!! Also note they do not give any instruction on how close to hold the can to the item.

Below is the first and for now last photonic capture of my first Steampunk weapon: As one can hopefully see, it is still very much a work in progress; there are a lot of things I want and need to decide on it. Atleast the base is there

Hartraft and Faust, you've both delivered some intruiging base designs - can't wait to see them finished.

Well the hobby shop that I get my "geek on" they have Games Workshop Chaos Black in a spray can and that is what I use as a primmer, Their are other colors in the spray cans a green or 3, white and reds. I think that they have just came out with a rough coat primer maybe that is what you have? I have not gotten any "fuzzy" finish I use light, quick passes, and I hold the can a bout 8ish inches away from whay I'm spraying. Hope this helps

Work in Progress-- First steamy gun. Doubles as a blowtorch! Just need to clean it up a bit after everything dries.

Thank you, sir I cannot wait to see it finished, either Exactly my sentiment. Gauges and a more steamy powersource are top my list of tweaks...
