I'm over 100 miles from the Scotland screening (its in Inverness) and the other site is in London, its not even in one of the logical areas of Scotland - i.e. the central belt (Edinburgh/Glasgow).
Might be a silly question but is the Finnish DVD in English?

It's a bit of a strange "bug" from migrating ranks. Shoggo is still here to my knowledge, but the old ranking system means he was a "guest" rank, and the guest rank shoggo is gone. ~Longeye~

Ah ok, it is indeed an old post but I only just noticed the guest bit. Still it goes to show how long the film was in production, all so some of us lucky few could get to see it in the cinema for just one day.

That might be the reason they've opted for a one day screening. They probably realise that the film has..i won't say 'limited appeal'..but it's not going to break any box office records. They may have decided to bring it on DVD ASAP in the hope it becomes a 'cult favourite'. There are a number of films that didn't do well at the box office but do amazingly well on DVD due to word of mouth positivity. The Shawshank Redemption being a prime example.

Amazing! I live near Leicester and the distributors have actually heard of the place! I seem to remember a 70's punk album called "Where the hell is Leicester". I digress. Will try and get tickets sorted tomorrow, I have a friend who might be intersted in going to so we'll see. If I get to see it I'll post some thoughts.
BTW just read Peter Hutchings' excellent critique of Hammer's 1958 Dracula. Not SP (apart from Van Helsing using the wax cylinder recorder like a kind of memo machine - not the pocket version, he would have needed the special trousers) - but I love Peter Cushing's clothes. Have a look, you'll see what I mean. I tried a full length cloak once (Dracula weekend, Scarborough, 1986) - boy they are heavy: you'd never get sufficient lift while turning into a bat...

Seems like the Iron Sky UK facebook page has been taken down. Seems to be the equivalent of Revolver putting their fingers into the ears and going LALALA I CAN'T HEAR YOU at the thousands of fans who called them out on their bovine manure. http://www.ironsky.net/site/iron-sky-team-does-not-approve-the-uk-release-strategy/

Well, got the tickets for myself and my associate. No, we're not going to dress up. As I said, I'll post a few notes about it. Of course, we all would have hoped for a better release, certainly at least a week. Certainly, it's not a movie to take a first date to (unless it was Rosa Klebb). I understand a romcom starring Sandra Bullock is more appropriate in such circumstances...

Here's the deal: The producers of the movie would like Iron Sky to have a proper theatrical run. What you can do is to ask your local theatre to inquire at Revolver if more screenings would be possible. If Revolver refuse, notify Energia. I believe that they're looking for proof that Revolver have no intention to give Iron Sky the run it deserves. http://www.ironsky.net/site/revolver-still-refusing-proper-cinema-release/

The Prince Charles in Leicester Square is showing it at 6.30pm but I have to work late that night and by the time I get out I won't get down there in time. And the Picturehouse Cinema in Hackney (that I wasn't aware existed 'til a couple of days ago and is only about 10 minutes walk from my flat) is showing it at 9.30. However the Picturehouse is a 'members only' cinema and it's £35 to join!!
So sod it! I've waited the best part of three years for this to be released, I can wait another couple of weeks and watch it DVD.

Given the distributors general apathy towards it, I was quite pleasantly surprised to see it advertised on TV yesterday. I think it's the first time I've ever seen a film advert stating in cinemas for one day only!

Copied from the distributor's Facebook page today: We have always said that the theatrical run of IRON SKY may go beyond a single day release and here's the news you've all been waiting for … Revolver is pleased to confirm that after taking on board each and every one of your comments, thoughts and feedback which we sent on to our cinema partners and with their support we are happy to announce that we are extending the film's run in the UK. Following on from the exclusive bloggers premiere on 21st May and the unique IRON SKY DAY on 23rd May, the film will continue to play at selected cinemas for as long as demand dictates. Now is the chance for all of you that have been so vocal to come out, support the film and keep it showing.
In an Official Statement, Ben Freedman, owner of London's Prince Charles cinema, commented: "We've always been in discussions with Revolver about extending the theatrical run of IRON SKY and they have always agreed that if demand was strong enough we would keep it going. We have enormous belief in the potential of the film to become a cult classic in the vein of Rocky Horror and The Room and keep audiences flocking to the Prince Charles for many years to come. So far the cinemas on board for additional screenings are: The Prince Charles Cinema, London Picturehouse Stratford East Picturehouse Belmont Aberdeen Picturehouse Exeter Duke of York's, Brighton Showcase Coventry (Evening Showings) Showcase Glasgow East (Evening Showings) Showcase Coventry (Evening and Late Night Showings) Showcase Cardiff Nantgarw (Late Night screenings) Showcase Derby De Lux (Late Night screenings) Showcase Leicester De Lux (Late Night screenings) The other cinemas who are extending the run will be announced tomorrow and throughout the week. I don't know what to make of that - was it all a scam? did the cinema owners apply pressure to the distributor? did the cinema owners get cold feet and had to be persuaded that people really would turn out to watch the film rather than protest it? or is it as it seems, they got bludgeoned into it by public demand??? In any case a few more opportunities opening up.

Strange. When I try to connect to that official page, I get redirected to the front page. Also, that "We've always said..." part is a blatant lie.
I believe that Energis threatened them with a lawsuit.

The Prince Charles Cinema just off Leicester Square is showing Iron Sky for a whole week. Tickets are available to book in advance through their website. They have tickets available for all screenings from late night Wednesday through to the following Tuesday. On Saturday they have four screenings from 2pm til 9pm. So it looks like I will get to see this in the cinema after all..even if it is in the somewhat cramped seating of the Prince Charles.
