I recently saw this hat at a thrift store, and neither I nor the owner had any idea of its origins. It seemed rather low-quality, which leads me to believe it isn't actually from any military. The top of the front has a backing to hold a cap device. Can any of you tell me anything about it?

I'm by no means an expert on hats, but to me the shape looks late-USSR. Can you give us photos from other angles? Are there any labels inside?

Poor quality might also indicate it was made during wartime or some other financially stressed period.

Didn't take any other pictures except this one. There are no labels on the inside, just a diamond of fabric sewn into the lining.

I'd think there would be some indication of what country or manufacturer, though. Maybe not.

Neither of the two schools here wear anything remotely like it. But considering it's at a thrift store, it's probably a long way from wherever it was made.

It looks worn enough that there is a possibility the makers label is just worn off from that diamond.

I've been looking for that shield patch since last night and I'm not seeing anything.

It's a visor cap and not a hat. It's nice to know the correct name if you want to google it. Wink  Unless you find out from where or what the coat of arms is you'll never be sure. Maybe you find something similar here:

I haven't found anything either. Thanks for looking.

I used the term "peaked cap" when googling it. Still couldn't find anything.
