Good day my good gents and ladys, I hope this is in the right place...

One of the things that really attracted me with the wearing of steampunk fashion was when I first witnessed the photos of the good mr Dantes and his brilliant crew, and soon after the lovely ladies of the H.M.S. Chronabelle. Since then ive been toying with the idea of forming my own, I have the airship, but now i need said crew.

Of course because of what it entails that unfortunately means it will only be for uk members, but I hope people like this idea and we begin our expeditions to various cons or meets we decide on.

the airships plans:
http://tiny5th.deviantart.com/art/HMS-Venerable-Plans-79027538
I have yet to do an interior plan, but she's fully equipped with facilities and living quarters within, as well as a large drawing / map room.

I suppose I shall start by introducing my own persona.

If it is a naval vessel, and not one that has been, ummm, commandeered and not yet re-named (whether for genuine nefarious purposes or mere neglect) then I may be able to persuade the RS to arrange a secondment. It would, however, also depend on whether or not the civil service could do the same for my beloved.

simply state so my good sir! Cheesy
im supposing with that repertoire you will be looking at the post of navigator?

The H.M.S. Venerable i most surely confirm is not of the H.M.S. variety, although we're not entirely naval either
it bears the naval honorary because it is a vessel of her majesty the queen and can be called upon in times of need such as war, but is otherwise an exploratory vessel.

i do believe one of the crew is a reformed pirate though, so we are not alien to the more nefarious sorts either.
in the words of mr grey, we're complicated

filth? well i never! your captain warned me some of her crew were uncouth but this takes the cake, and the tea too!

What is she powered by? I'm a Diesel mechanic, but i could learn other forms of propulsion. So if you require a Chief Engineer, I would be honoured to serve.

you are most welcome, she is primarily powered by steam of course, she has a large boiler belowdecks that feeds up to the engines through the central column of pipes.

but she also has an experimental tesla feedback-loop generator system, allowing her to achieve almost perpetual motion, and reducing her fuel consumption greatly

the main generator is above deck, on the boom with the rounded end that can be seen, this negates the need for any heat sinks because it is open to the air, except for the armoured shielding to prevent damage, the smaller generators that create the feedback are belowdecks with the boiler.

Hmm, as I've got a bone saw and surgeons tools kicking about doing nothing and it opens some interesting prop opportunites...

As a gunnery "officer" I'm more inclined to ask what kind of armament she's got ?. naturally these would be for "defence only" as I understand the modern parlance states !! Wink.

And NO !!!, Mr Pitt, I am not thinking of jumping ship, you can't be rid of me so easily.
Anyhow, with that rocket-pack strapped to you, you'll be the one leaving ship first !!

Ahh, ok *scribbles note to self* "must remember to look at ships plans first before opening cake-hole"  Embarrassed

Steam cannons eh ?? Ahmm. Yes, very nice I must say, but prone to jamming in prolonged "engagements" due to heat expansion, not to mention a slow rate of fire (unless you have the improved venting system that is !)

the main cannon is slow to fire, as it requires a lot of pressure, but can hole an enemy airship from nose to tail

the volleyguns are rotated by steam pressure so can get up to a good speed, but still carry gunpowder bullets.

and the mounted guns are ordinary deck mounted weaponry, the deck has hard points in places where any type can be mounted
