Though chivalry is required on the U.S.S Airkraken, it's a slightly different kind. More a feeling of comradely, a civility we create ourselves. A woman joining us would be given a ball musket and a rapier, but that's not to say courtesy towards her would be lowered. It's just that courtesy is given to all crew.

Welcome aboard mate!...

Be it known I dont give out jobs or titles...find where you fit and claim your title, work and fight...

Thank you Cap'n! May I ask what positions are already filled so I don't step on any toes? It's not that I am unequal to a duel, its just that the ships ranks could hardly be increased if I were to kill members of the existing crew.

My brethren! I come to you with a new weapon that we can use against the Imperial forces! Our brethren in the South China Sea gave me the blueprints after aiding them against in a battle against the East India Trading Co. Fleet stationed there. They call it an "air-to-air rocket". You fire it at Imperial airships, and it can be controlled through a copper wire by a trusted hand on deck. Truly marvelous. No other fleet in the world has this technology I have word that our brethren in the South China Sea are developing an upgrade to this product as we speak. It will use aetherite crystals to target on the heat generated by airship engines!

I will gladly share this technology with you! For the brethren!

I'm still a bit confused as to my captain's stance here. I wouldn't mind, but as we are currently under a letter of marque...

Speaking of which, Captain, Do we have a flag...?

Quarter Master of the pirate airship Orfiel

« Reply #104 on: April 16, 2008, 02:53:02 am »

Good man! The great airship Orfiel (pronounced "or-fay-ell" by the by), captained by the venerable Vermillion is taking on new crewmates who can hold their own. What say you?

Well as long as you're accepting new crew may I offer my services(Engineering that is)?

As the fair Capt'n says, we can use any able body we can get. Welcome aboard comrade! I don't think we have anyone in the engine room yet, so make yourself at home. You'll find the reactors waiting for a good hand in the aft of the ship, as I'm sure you're aware.

Vermillion, it seems Orfiel is quickly gaining a strong crew (you're welcome Wink) and they seem to want positions. I agree with your decree--each one should take what they're best suited for, titles be damned. However, to better organize ourselves for maximum efficiency, might I suggest areas of responsibility instead?

Let's see, the admirable Professor is an engineer, I'm best with strategy and weaponeering (hmm, does being the first mate aboard mean anything Capt'n? Grin), and Tristan... Tristan ma boy! What are you good at? Whatever it is, get to it!

Lads, keep in mind that each of us are intelligent individuals, and while we answer to the Capt'n, we can best make use of our might if we keep our heads on and make the best decision according to the situation. Now, have a round, my treat!

Aye! Don't touch my hat.

Quarter Master/Navigator is excellent, though I wouldn't mind giving my expertise as strategist/tactician and, as I mentioned earlier, weaponeer. Yes I made that up but I'm quite skilled with firearms, swords and as you will soon see, aggressive clockwork mechanisms. I'm tweaking its components as we speak...

Ach! We've three women already aboard, they don't get treated different an' one of'em, our medic, is a nun.
You pull yer weight, you fight when we fight, you take an equal share of the booty or you get off the ship.

Cap'n'd put it fancier and nicer, but it amounts to the same thing.

Mac is correct here. I may be somewhat old-fashioned when it comes to seeing women in combat, but damn my eyes if some of the damsels I've met in my time haven't been the most efficient sword-swingers I've ever laid eyes upon. So come aboard, stow your gear, and take a place at the bow-chasers. We need every man and woman we can get.

Well as a well learned pirate I cant stress nearly enough the ability for a captain to both have charisma and aeronautical expertise, not to mention some excellent warring and combat skills.  A leader a manager a pilot and a warrior is something I look for and something you can't find by brandishing your weapons.

My friend, your criteria are well-founded, and your priorities impeccable. As Captain of the 'Reckless Abandon', I do my level best at all times to ensure that my crew remains in one piece, and that they harbour no ill-will toward anyone but the Empire. I shall make no allusions to perfection, but I will say that you may count on me to do right by every buccaneer, corsair, and filibuster who makes their home on the seven seas or the eight winds. I do not see myself as your leader, rather I am a mere foot-soldier. I shall take my station with my sabre just like any other. And that sabre is forever at the service of pirate-kind.

Well then Captain, if you have an account I shall be happy to make my mark. I've not been in combat before (dressmakers premises being somewhat more genteel than these ships) but I can learn anything you care to show me.

In addition, I have an unrivalled hand for both fine and sturdy sewing. I can work with any material from gossamer to stiff leather, and can make netting beyond compare.

Privateers who pay taxes to HMG aren't considered pirates, and would be exempt from the upcoming purges.
Really, we'd be delighted to have you on our side.

Actually the crew of the "Reckless Abandon" will be writing rules for  tabletop wargame/LARP

All ship to ship battles shall be table top games. All boarding actions and land rais shall be LARPs.

We are designing our own nerf style guns and purchasing LARP weapons.

We will make the rules available once they have been thoroughly checked for balance and tweaked necessarily.

All wargames/LARPs/CCGs sound complicated until you play them so I'm not too worried, if it is too complicated

well that's what playtesting is for.

Anyway, back to piracy.
