yeah, odd people tend to have fewer relationships than those normal beings out there. but honestly, i think odd people's relationships last longer. it might take a while to find some one as odd as you or who understands your odd-ness, but when you do it will probably last a while.

Lol, I've had enough relationships to know you need someone as oddly as you are to be perfect quirks together.

Yes - when Mr. Sullivan and I first got together, it caused quite a stir; people said it wouldn't last.  We are a rather unconventional couple, you might say.  Still, here we are almost fourteen years later and having the last laugh.

Not too long before SteampunkBuilder and I got married, I caught my dad watching us with an amused glint in his eye.  I asked him what he was thinking, and he joked, "I never thought you'd find a man who's as weird as you are, and in the same ways!"

That was a little over 20 years ago....   ;D

My Mister is pure old-school punk, right down to his bleached-blonde mohawk but he does have quite the appreciation for steampunk asthetics.  For our company's holiday party he actually wore a tophat with a slit cut in the top to allow the mohawk to come through.  No worries though, it was an inexpensive topper, purchased for the express purpose of setting off the 'hawk.

Though I wear steampunk everyday, I plan to assemble something a little fancier for both of us for Cons and as we're both Toy Soldiers in Dr. Steel's Army, we're going to make our uniforms as steampunk as possible.

My question is, where do you find these people?! I would love to just be friends with someone who shared the same level of enthusiasm for Steampunk as myself, let alone have a relationship. Where do you hang around to pick up steamier types...

when I visited his apartment for the first time, my first glance around the place showed me an armor tree (with armor he'd constructed) just inside the entrance, a half-completed stained glass project on the kitchen counter, a hand-carved linoleum printing block and prints on a nearby table, and various other fascinating stuff.  "I have to marry this guy," I told myself.

The things you find out AFTER you've been married for 20 years!!!  ...and you discover them on a web forum...  SHEESH!   ;)

My boyfriend broke up with me last night
i'm so broken hearted

I went through a similar (although not quite equal) experience this February. After three years, it is so hard to forget a relationship of that length and depth. It was funny, only several months before that, I showed my significant other this site. She looked at me, looked at the screen, looked at me again and said: "I'm not at all surprised!" It was not in a condemning way at all. Apparently, she HAD heard of steampunk before, but as far as I know was not all that immersed in it.

Try 22 years and 2 teenage daughters.
And of course, the "want to be best friends"!

edit: she was never steampunk

she still wanted to be best friends after 22 years and two children? you're both saints if you can manage that.
