Might I inquire as to the next meet up? Provided it isn't on another sunday I should be able to make it, and whilst I probably could make a sunday, I would probably still be half drunk and extremely tired...

I know my brother is going to midfur next weekend, how I would love to rock up and heckle some furries!

Ah, heckling furries, the sport of the internet  Roll Eyes

As for meet ups, I was thinking that seeing as peoples schedules are probably hotting up as we approach non-denominational end of year celebrations, we should plan for a Major Meet, sometime in January.

Perhaps the much talked about Build Day, or something like a picnic?

As far as I'm concerned, any time is fine since I'll no longer be chained to work by a demonic portable communication device after this weekend, well, apart from the aforementioned sundays...

anything is good for me as long as i know about it a week or so in advance.
oh and i am still pushing for a steam punk gathering in Belgrave.
you have  Puffing Billy always a crowd pleaser and also there's Earthly pleasures wich is a Restuarant in the main street, its built inside an old manner house MadUncle may possibly know the place i'm talking about (next to the belgrave library)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
its reasonably reasonable on price, and they have random old stuff on the walls.

Hi there steamy Melbournian tinkerers

Been off the web a bit lately (needed a virtual break) and I have spent some time on the monitor for the PC.

See my new tactile post http://brassgoggles.co.uk/bg-forum/index.php?topic=12664.0

Mr.Rin - I still intend to challenge you to a raygun duel - I have parts awaiting assembly...

Meanwhile, I will be going mad (yes folks - going mad) over Christmas so I hope to find time to get back to Camberwell in the new year.

And yes Silas, that place does look inviting for foodstuff in Belgrave - always wanted to check it out.

Cheers all!

(yes that's right - going mad!)

Well, for the lead up to the end of the year, I seem to have acquired one or two events for each weekend, plus several midweek events, plus the shopping, and a work deadline. I doubt I'll be going anywhere that isn't already planned until after New Years, and then I'll most likely go and sulk in my lab for a week until I recover from being over socialised.

I shall be watching here though, to see what events might be planned in January.

well after hosting a post-nuclear apocalypse party for My girlfriend's 20th, I am thinking of having another steampunk theme/activity party. Not sure when it shall be, or what the activities will be, possibly some sort of murder mystery aboard a zepplin. Will make it an open invite to the forums here if I can manage to.

Dearest Melbournians,

If any of you happen to be in Brisbane for the festive season, please do join us for dinner at The Gun Shop on Saturday 27 December.

Kind regards,

Why... activity is flourishing! Its... its wonderful! *tear*

*shake shake shake* (pull yourself together boy~!)
Anyway...  Grin

I think a nice major meetup/activity after New Years in Jan is a swell idea, I am quite the advocate of going to Puffing Billy (only cause' I love the damn place)... but yea, got plenty of activities to do I believe.
Also: maybe another Camberwell market visit soon(-ish), nothing major, just for fun and material checking outs (I know, Rowan, I SLEPT IN FOR LAST WEEKS ONE... but I'll make more effort the next time Grin)

Ms Ella Gunn, where exactly North are you?

Well folks, just so you know, I believe that next Sunday is the last day the market is open until after Christmas, so best stock up Smiley

Dinner and a steam train sound like a perfect evening out to me, count me in!

Yes - dinner and a steam train does sound good, as does a steampunk inspired murder mystery aboard a blimp.

Good excuse for some steamed up cosplay (and to swageer aound with ray guns).

Other ideas - group visit to scienceworks follwed by an exploration of Williamstown?

Costumed picnic in the Botanic Gardens?

Certainly a group market scrounge in 2009 - Mr. Rin, when is the first market for next year?

Puffing Billy is awesome - we had a friends' birthday last year up there with a wonderful picnic, really fantastic - even in the middle of winter!

We were planning some kind of outing to Scienceworks, but were recently informed by a friend that their Tesla room was no longer there. Has anybody been there recently who can confirm or deny this? We're not sure that the information is correct, but we'd also emailed Scienceworks a month or so ago and had no response whatsoever. Undecided

If I were 25 years, 2 months, 2 weeks and 19 hours younger I too would attend euchronia.

As it is - I rapidly turn into a grumbling (but adorable) old curmudgeon after 9:08 at night, and this event probably doesn't even start until then (or even lated egads!)

My good lady wife and I will most likely spend New Years Eve on the lower deck enjoying a glass of wine or few.

We shall listen for the gleefull screams of steampunk nirvana from afar.

Please take photographs.

If I were just a year older, I would attend. I'm mighty envious.

Latest breaking news!!!

Rowan and I are meeting at Camberwell Market for the last steampunk scrounge of the year TOMORROW!!!

I plan to hook up with Mr. Rin at around 8:00am, but no doubt he will have been there for several hours by then. the 'discombubulator' ray gun will be in tow.

Anyone care to join us???

Yes!! I shall be there at 8am or sometime a little later than 8am! Probably 9 because my morning trains do not wish me to get to Camberwell at 6am >_>
Which means I must sleep early tonight and wake early tomorrow, oh dear.

There was only one band playing at the market today...

wet wet wet!

Anyhoo - I did catch up with Rowan of Rin but did not spot the 'Cat' anywhere (shouldn't that be spot the dog?)

My most excellent finds were:

- a beautiful pair of old leather and brass binoculars in an equally beautiful leather case (from Paris no less)
- a nifty 'popular mechanics' mag from the 60's with flying wing nuclear planes on the cover (a present for my good mate Chris)
- a brass swing arm pipe with a hose nozzle on the end that is identical in size and thread diameter to the one I made from scrathc  during the week for my monitor arm! (oh well - into the cupboard of steampunk love for the next project)

I leave it up to Mr. Rin to talk up his purchase...

PS - anyone got any laboratory clamps?
