Or someone even more thoroughly from the Victorian era was Eliphas Levi
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eliphas_Levi

The first books on cartomancy were written in the 1760's so using tarot cards for fortune telling was a growing idea during the 1800's and according the wikipedia the heyday of spiritualism was from 1840s to the 1920s http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spiritualism_%28religious_movement%29

Well, I've made a few voodoo dolls before out of old pairs of pants, so this one won't be hard. I should have it on my deviantart account within the week.

Maybe not so much from the Pagan/magick aspect, but certainly from the idea of contacting the spirit world and seeing fairies and such, even Sir Conan Doyle was involved in the spiritualism movement and the whole photographing fairies thing.

Why hasn't anyone mentioned Poe yet? Occultic writings, at least of spirits, darkness and fairies, and a Victorian timeline? Yes, please..

Speaking of witch ;-) I started a thread about other fringe religious groups that started during the 1800's http://www.brassgoggles.co.uk/bg-forum/index.php?topic=5518.0 thinking they might inspire some story ideas

Not to be a dick, but you do realise that Paganism, Satanism, Voodoo, and Wicca are all separate religions don't you? Paganism is a nature based religion. Its akin to me saying I want to be a steam punk Christian and making a brass Koran.

Good things to point out.

But then (also not wanting to be a dick), technically speaking, a pagan is a follower of any religion other than Christianity, Judaism or Islam.

Agree with last poster, although the "technical term" is non-Abrahamic religions. Wicca and Haitian Voodoo is by most degrees pagan religions, and "paganism" is no single religion. But here we go again, talking about religions.

Let's return to the topic, shall we?

Actually, paganism is a blanket term encompassing a lot of the old polytheistic earth based religions including shamanism, asatru, wiccan, witchcraft, voodoo, druidism.

Part of my old shpiel when I was public relations for my college's pagan society.
