Learn How to Weld
« on: February 08, 2008, 12:26:25 pm »
OK.. I looked around and searched for "welding" and it seems that while there are many familiar with welding and many that are curious there is no dedicated thread for learning. I like to keep alot of DIY and tutorial stuff handy. I have posted some of this on other forums and its been appreciated so here it is for your enjoyment and enlightenment. All the stuff below should be more than enough to get ya started in welding. Feel free to include anything related and be sure to poke around some of the sites listed for other tutorials, projects, etc. Some of the stuff is kinda redundant but from different sources and there is some difference of opinion on some things. The vids are toward the end from expertvillage, that particular site is GREAT for tutorials. You can use an offline web browser to save a copy of the stuff and burn to CD so in case anything disappears from the net you will have your own copy.

PS. Sorry if there is a thread and I missed it.. in which case I ask the mods to PM me the link so I can add anything of value to the original thread.

Thanks for the accolades everyone, you are also welcome to ADD to the thread.

;)

There are plenty more websites with projects, tutorials, etc out there. I had originally compiled this for a starting place for those capable of teaching themselves out of a textbook. The real secret is practice, when I first learned I would weld bead after bead all day long on a piece of "scrap" till I got sexy lookin beads.

Yes, this needs to be stickied. How about creating a "Library" forum to put things like this for mad scientists and tinkerers to refer to?

Welding is definately something which I'd like to learn.

Brilliant! *dons goggles* Ahhh, much better!  :D

Once said forum is completed, we shall have to search up past tutorials to have them moved to the library.

Excellent - I have an arc welder here that I've yet to use. Must get hold of some scrap steel and have a go.
