More Weird West I think... Unfortunately,I saw it a few days ago.(Excuse-I love Milla.) The outfits are really all I find semi-steamy.Mostly Milla`s and also..um..yeah..Claire?The characters name was? Milla-This outfit gave me an overflow of inspiration... Only decent picture I found...I recall her with suspenders and such at one point.If only she`d had a big wrench... I definietly saw a few nice pairs of goggles around the film too. |

Nah, just post-apocalyptic. The two first movies were better anyway. There was a girl on here who had created Claire´s costume for cosplay.

This is a perfect example of how Steampunk is really a state of mind. Looking at both pictures with the background of sand/wasteland and you instantly get the post-apoc feel. But if the same two ladies were to be put into a factory setting or stepping out of a brass and copper time machine contraption the outfits would be completely at home (perhaps minus the huge blades Alice is wielding).
As with almost any outfit, Steampunk is in the eye of the beholder.

Good question, and there's no reason it can't be. But the world of Resident Evil is decidedly not Steampunk. Yes, absolutely, but that doesn't stop the clothes, taken out of context, from being steam-appropriate. |

I just see the clothes as being weird, nothing steampunk about them.
Post-apocalyptic could be steampunk. I for one do not feel that something is steampunk just because it has prototype or cobbled together technology though. I know some do.

i suppose point out that the kuhkri knives would fit in a steam setting isn't necessary? because that what i was going to say as i was reading down this thread. but i think its been said well enough. so i wont.

erm, maybe a little off... they're great blades, angled and weighted to slit the throat nicely, so several sources read. Gurkhas and their blades were an elite fighting force even as recently as WWII. one man i spoke to recounted how he was about to be killed by a gurkha while he was on a night sentry duty, but the man was saved because the gurkha had, in pitch black, first checked and realised the sentry was wearing british issue boots and laces. Amazing. if anyone wants one, hand forged and all, try Himalayan Imports. their work is STUNNING. |

The barbed section at the base of the blade is for doing just that, if you dont draw your opponents blood, your grease it with your own.
