What about nukes. Handy for dealing with concentrations/hordes! Just can't use too many too close together (nothing left to live on afterwards)

Armin' codes aren't left lyin' around just anywhere, you know?
Plus, you'd need a delivery system, and, critically know how to use it.

I personally couldn't handle such a weapon but in the early stages at least the military should remain a co-hesive force, especially our way of keeping all the nukes in submarines. One of the Vanguard's could easily take out a continent or two with the tridents and the Trafalgars carry tomahawk nowadays. A bit rough on any survivers still fighting the zombie hoards who are those places but it would even up the odds for every-one else.

Probably a good idea to do an airburst, to maximise the effective AP capabilities, and keep fallout down...

the problem is, the resulting radiation and fallout will only hurt humans, what with the contamination of water and food and the such.
whereas if a zombie gets covered in fallout, it'll just spread it around, and not die.
(but if it gets covered in fire, it'll spread it around, then die, and hopefully kill other zombies!)

I was right! An airship is probably the best metheod of transport in a zomie uprising. The only issue is an occaisonal refueling, but you can easily pick off zombies and clear a landing zone.
I don't think zombies starve, but don't they eventually rot?

I vote no on nukes. I'd rather use napalm, bullets or hell, a crowbar before nukes.

actually airships would be perfect in the AntiZombie role.. stable platform that can hover over a swarm for an extended period while your troops take their shots.... yup... it's mentioned in WWZ, but not in any great detail...
as to zombie lifespans... the 28days Rage victims will eventually die from starvation / dehydration since they are still actually living... the classic Zombie tho, they last a lot lot longer - In romero's Dead series, they are shown to be still active years after the collapse.. and in the WWZ universe, it's noted in the Handbook they last for years since Solarum is also a preservative... (and makes the flesh quite toxic to anything living)

As for personal zombie protection; Modern riot-gear is light weight, non-restrictive and stab resistant (which probably also means zombie bite resistant) Plus, all those hardened bits can be used defensively as well as offensively by using it to beat them zombies to a bloody, smelly pulp. Just make sure you've got a proper helmet with full face covering that can not easily be opened by the undead. Alternatively... Would be a pain to move around in that all day though..

Modern stuff looks alright, but might be hard to get, 'cos it'd be in use by the people it's supposed to be used by.
Old stuff LOOKS good, but is noisy and restricting....

Well, In actual fact, all that platemail was designed with this sort of thing in mind...
(except zombies wont have crossbows or be able to undo the buckles)
In a worst case scenario you'd starve as all the zombies piled on top of you...
and swords don't run out of ammo.

Swords get blunt. And they'd pull the armour off you.
Hah, fine, if you want to run around in a tin can all day being noisy and obtrusive, gradually becoming more exhausted, I won't try and stop you.

Do zombies spook horses? Would they eat your horse? Where can one purchase an airship for emergencies like this? ...
Where do you park your airship?

Are you suggesting a zombie apocalypse would send us back that far technology wise?

Yes. Are you suggesting a zombie apocalypse would send us back that far technology wise? no, but todays combat relys on fighting quick, stealthy wars, not full blown human wave attacks (unless, of course, your china) so we must therefore change tactics. Dunno.

Yes. Cap'n Minty, WATCH OUT! Is easier to shoot a rifle.
Yes, 'tis. They're largely manufactured by machine, though, so the better ones are hard to make.
