The Society for Industrial Archaeology (SIA) and its chapters in USA offer newsletters and tours to its enthusiast members and guests. While interests and activities cover a wide span of time, I have been fortunate to join groups visiting gas-works, steam-plants, water-powered mills, and electricity-generating stations of the Victorian era. The tour guides and hosts have been knowledgeable and welcoming. The president of one paper mill led us around himself and concluded the tour with a catered barbecue meal - gratis!
