Arrived in the post today, just in time for some mid week tinkering.

I do like a nice box of mixed nuts.

Flogging. Definitely warrants a flogging.

Other than that...looks familar....from ebay?
I've picked up a lot of my metric hardware and metal stock from ebay, because it's "imperial only" here in the States.
Big boxes carry a token amount of metric items, but even that is not available in brass.

Correct - eBay is my friend in all things brass metric.

I also have a box of brass metric knurled and threaded spacers coming soon.

Major progress today.

I got the single wheel welded to the support stand (plough disc) by my Fire Brigade Captain who happens to know how to weld.

This meant I was able to steam ahead and assemble the complete construct, get all the positions right, bolt it up and now start on the detailing.

Plenty of detailing to do.

The still images don't really show it off - I will do a walk around video tomorrow.

That sounds like a Fireman who uses a flamethrower. 451 anyone?

Looking good. Any idea how much the final thing will weigh? Are you going have to do a few benchpresses before you can carry it?

It is heavy. I have constructed it so it unbolts into transportable sections.

Thank you.

The head does look a little like a microphone with those grills.

Moving home that many times I am wondering if you also have a set of containers to move everything in? Your boxes of holding, as such.

Wish my workroom was that spacious. Most of it is storage with no floorspace.

I am OCD when it comes to my workshop.

Everything has a storage place, nothing is left out.

Buying it ex demo for $20,000 a year after it was released helps.

It lives in the workshop but goes outside when I tinker.

Friday tinker time.

I got to use the fittings I picked up during the week and start some copper pipe plumbing works.

And I have an idea for the hub motor on the wheel, using an old carburettor as part of the motor.

Started the hub motor today.

That old bronze carburettor looks the part, sets the whole piece in an era.

Don't worry - it is not some exceedingly rare old original Amal piece, but a recast replica.

More tubing and stuff next weekend, I will join the carburettor up to the fuel tank on the stem above.

And I somehow can't wait for the next update, still watching good sir.

Beware the use of too much copper pipe, someone here may consider such items a gratuitous    ::) ::)

Bearing in mind the strict limitations now placed on the use of copper pipe so as to not be seen as gratuitous in any way, I completed the plumbing circuit from the main body to the pressure tank to the distribution tank to the hub motor.

I am well pleased with the colour palette of copper, brass, steel, old red and old green - proper looking machine.

That's it for a week or more now, next trick will be to hunt down one or more doo dads to add up around the head and onto the arms.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for gratuitous copper pipe and brass, it's just a random comment someone made in another thread about the over use of copper pipe in Steampunk, which I thought rather ridiculous and I have dwelled on it for far too long..........

You lavish that baby with as much copper pipe as you like!

Looking more than rather splendid so far.
