As I just read, apparently the RMS Queen Mary is in such state as to be at risk of sinking or capsizing. The City of Long Beach in California owns the Queen Mary, and lease the ship to operators, the last of which is in bankruptcy proceedings. City officials claim that maintenance falls under the contract of stewardship by the operators, and consequently have failed over the decades to provide much needed maintenance. Many ideas were proposed in the past, including sending the ship back to the UK for repair and leasing the ship to Japan to raise funds for the repairs. But it seems the old sheep is running out of time

I visited her way back in 1988.

But if she's 'permanently moored' why didn't they fix her in concrete?

I guess the cost?

This is what happens when financial interests and profit outweigh historical interest and cultural importance.
