They get bonus points for chosing to make a steampunk hilt. The only it doesn't do it make it capable of physically clashing with another blade.

This guy's been doing it for a while. His first sword was a metal heating element. Hos new sword is a gas flame. None of them have all the properties of a light saber as seen on the screen, because it's pretty much physically impossible.
