The first Saturday in May is World Naked Gardening Day, a day for the celebration (weather permitting*) of clothing-free involvement in Nature.

*Canadian Naked Gardening Day has been celebrated the first Saturday in June, and the New Zealand Naturist Federation has adopted the last weekend in October to mark the occasion.

Sorry, too bloody cold, and I don't really have a garden - I have a yard with a few shrubs and small trees, and a hedge, and someone else comes and tends it for me!!

No, no, no - definitely not for me!!

As I type this post (at ~ 16:30 hrs) it is 97F (38C) and the sun is out.
That means it was well over 100F at mid afternoon.
I would not go out out naked then or now or anytime in the lower deserts of AZ from this day forward until maybe mid October, unless of course I had a hankering to look like boiled lobster.  Tongue

Of course there are certain jobs one would customarily not undertake on Naked Gardening Day, such as:

  • pruning the roses
  • trimming the yew hedge
  • digging up the poison ivy
  • visiting the local garden centre

I would think that the last one would depend upon one's degree ofnakedness - however, I don't think I'd do that in any case, unless it's teh garden center at Wal-Mart. Given the norm for (Harrumpfph!)casual dress in that establishment...

The horror! What you see in Walmart defies explanation. The eldritch shoppers, at certain hours when the stars are aligned in a particular manner, make the inhabitants of Innsmouth look normal.

Oh,  the disappointment of realising that I missed it and will have to wait another 364 days until I can have the joyous experience of participating in this amazing event ...

I normally ask for photos, but on this occasion I think maybe not, eye bleach is in short supply and the shock could upset my household, *shudders* of the thought  Grin
