Just been out to join in this and feel heartened at the number of people in our quiet road who came out. Everyone is at their own door so still the correct distance apart and when we finished we were shouting goodnights. In a world which is suddenly very scary and different this is a good thing to do.

Here's an idea. This comes from one of the travel channels I frequent in YouTube. Anyone who is weathering this situation, being a hospital, or a nursing home, or any other profession revolving around protecting people deserves some recognition because most of us are at home, while these few are out there facing the danger to keep others away from said danger.

My family tried to adopt the trend to flash our light at 20h30. We were the only one in the whole neighborhood and we forgot the next days .

The word pagan came from paganus , who mean peasant . Its was a way to significate than christianism was the religion of the elite and paganism the one of the savage worker class.
''Trickster shows us how we trick OURSELVES. Her rampant curiosity backfires, but, then, something NEW is discovered (though usually not what She expected)! This is where creativity comes from—experiment, do something different, maybe even something forbidden, and voila! A breakthrough occurs! Ha! Ha! We are released! The world is created anew! Do something backwards, break your own traditions, the barrier breaks; destroy the world as you know it, let the new in.'' Extract of the Dreamflesh article ''Path of The Sacred Clown''

I'm not on any social media so didn't hear about this until this morning. And it appears we weren't the only ones, this was posted at 8.30 last night on another forum I frequent:
“Just been out walking in my permitted daily exercise slot, and as i was going through a posh bit someone came out on to the pavement. F***’s sake, now i have to cross over. But as i started crossing, someone came out on the other side. So now i have to stay in the middle of the road. And just when i was thinking, ok i can go back on to the pavement now, loads of them come out. So now i can’t go on to the pavement due to social distancing, so i’m forced to walk up the middle of the road, with my headphones on, with people lining both sides of the street, who all then start applauding me on my way. And then fireworks start going off. It was truly surreal, like an insane dream.”

I speak in syllabubbles. They rise to the surface by the force of levity and pop out of my mouth unneeded and unheeded. Cry "Have at!" and let's lick the togs of Waugh! Arsed not for whom the bell tolls, it tolls for tea.

I'm sorry you missed it Sir Henry. I'm not a social media person either; I first heard about this a couple of days ago on Classic FM, and the BBC have also been talking about it. I don't know if another one is planned, but if anyone hears of anything perhaps they could put it on this thread ...

Bloody noisy buggers woke me up whilst taking a kip, so, yep my locals are in support, just wish I was awake at the time I read on the BBC this morning , it could become a weekly event until the crisis is over, so every Thursday at 8PM get clapping and banging those pots and pans.
