I've seen an old instrument that was like a player piano harmonica. You turned a crank to advance the paper scroll while you blew into the mouthpiece. I can't find a picture of it.

That is a pretty cool invention, even for the Jazz Age (one would think a crystal radio would be more attractive as a. catalogue purchase) , and they made it truly portable
