Townsville Heritage Day

This event occurred on Sunday, in the new location of ANZAC Park:











They had guided tours of the Queens Hotel, but were out of tickets when I arrived.

I love the old carousel! A ride on the carousel used to be my grand treat at any of the agricultural shows I used to go to as a kid - that and the Ferris Wheel!

We used to have an old washing machine like that - it was a Bendix, I think -  so many of my little brother's nappies went through the wringer! They were very efficient, too.

I also rather like that writing slope!

I'm fairly sure that's my mother's old washing machine... I always wondered what happened to it.

I'm fairly sure that's my mother's old washing machine... I always wondered what happened to it.

I'm pretty sure ours had blue around the bottom. The most memorable thing about it were the quite frequent occasions when my stepmother would put her hand through the wringer!!
