I just recently came across this 1909 "Dictionary of Heterodox English, Slang, and Phrase".
Then I thought that someone here may have already posted it, and that was indeed the case, back in 2013.
However (comma) it was only mentioned with no link or any other useful instructions on how to access it.
So, here it is....all 270+ pages.  Complete volume can be downloaded as pdf.

. My parents had a big old dictionary compiled in the 1930s  and published in the late 1940s, due to delays during WW 2.  Apart from  a section including political, military and social  words from the war, it was replete with people abusing themselves and living off immoral earnings.  Which merely served to create more questions in an inquiring mind.

Which is not much different than what they are doing today. Roll Eyes

A nice find, but a shame that it isn't in a downloadable format that I could get printed into an actual paper book. As it is, I would have to same 290 image files and edit them into a PDF file.

I've bought reference books in Kindle editions before, and browsing through a reference book on Kindle is just not the same. Anyway, I found a paperback copy with modern notations for eleven bucks, so I'm happy.

It's a bit like that, isn't it - I have the PDF too, but am not game to open it just yet in case I get sucked so far into the morass it is impossible to haul myself out safely! Grin

Found this item is available from Amazon but I'll try and hunt down a copy in some local secondhand book shops first...much more fun.
