I think I found that recipe, a gardeners special. Only it  it had infused gin.  The other vintage  recipes mentioned looked good too.

I doubt I'm the only absinthe drinker here. Not only do I like a break from Scotch, especially on a sunny day (beside the Seine, if it can be arranged) but it's an excuse to play with some
appropriate apparatus.
Small advice though; avoid the bright blue-green imitation 'absinth' with no 'e'. It tastes like a vodka based mouthwash and doesn't cloud when water is added, like the real stuff.

Thank you, Hurricane Annie! Cheesy
I've found there's a dearth of absinthe and related apparatus here in the South Australia Company's somewhat tottery business venture. Certainly the mouthwash labelled "Green Fairy" is close to fraudulent, but it's very nearly all I can find, and it doesn't count. I bit the bullet last year and ordered that fountain, plus glasses and spoons, from Germany (I can tell you where if you like but it has an obvious name and I'm not here to advertise!) I sweated it out, but it all arrived so well packaged it could have survived re-entry from orbit. I think they used a combination of cardboard, foam, airbags and Cavorite.
I've sourced a few bottles from the same place, and I'm slowly checking them out, but I am not disappointed.
Point is, it's something of an operation preparing a drink, but you take it slow, enjoy the aesthetics, and savour it langorously. Which I think makes it a suitable Steampunk drink.

A few years ago on Brassgoggles I proposed Pimms and dry cider (for preference Aspall - Premier Cru for the original version, Vintage Imperial for an extra steampunk experience but make sure you are in a safe place...)

My current SP cocktail is my take on a Perfect Storm - shake spiced Golden Rum (Kraken / Sailor Jerry's) with lime juice over ice until nicely cold, decant into a tall glass and top up with good ginger beer - over extra ice if the weather and situation warrant.

Cheers, ffitz

Why do I think there should be a drink called the Fitzroy Stormglass? Transparent until the chap gets drunk and hostile, at which point the drink turns cloudy...

I just figured out that kraken rum and Jamaican ginger beer mix quite nicely. I don't know if it has a name, but it is tasty!
