The "Siberian Times" reports that scientists have recovered two nematodes from two different sites on the permafrost of Siberia, and these two specimens, one 30000 yrs old and the other 47000 years old revived after being thawed. That would make these two worms the oldest known *living* animals on Earth. The time period corresponds to the very late Pleistocene Era which began 2.2 million years ago.

And I thought that being called "middle aged" was an insult.
