Are Beanies steampunk ? [ humour me for a moment]

I am on another creative jag.  I have blagged a black rubbish bag of coloured wool ball oddments.  In the past I have had limited success  selling knitted babies/ small childrens beanies at the markets. Aviartix hats and beanies/ caps. There were customers looking for adult sizes. I am considering going back into production and including adult  sizes . Are  knitted caps/  hats still  worn and would they  suit the steam- diesel ethos. The influence  and inspiration is usually  of a military nature.

All suggestions are welcome.

Things to keep in mind, in the Antipodes it is summer and anything elaborate is cost prohibitive.  People don't want to pay to much  so I keep them simple.

 Thank you for showing me your  Bloomers  ; } . They are fabulous .   The other items were fairly fantastic  also.  The fingerless gloves   are  pretty .

Yes. That is usually the look  that transpires . Parents must  have aspirations for their little folk to be chimney sweeps and   gunners  ; }   they  do look cute on though.

 Adults have enquired about  adult sizes  so there must be a market for the  rookery  look.
