I happened upon this today:
http://www.lighthouse.net/dialup/CABLETV.php

A cable company that serves northern Michigan, including Mackinac Island, where motor vehicles are illegal. This is the island where "Somewhere in Time" was filmed.

I want to know, when you order cable television on Mackinac Island, what kind of a vehicle comes to your house to install the equipment?

Ah My Dear RJ

Prof (Jaded) Marvel has your answer!

the island has a ban on almost all motor vehicles.
the ban exempts snowmobiles during winter, emergency vehicles, and service vehicles.

Thus I fear your cable provider will probably not arrive in a horse and buggy :-(

You beqat me to it!

From wiki:
"Motorized vehicles have been prohibited on the island since 1898,[39] with the exception of snowmobiles during winter, emergency vehicles, and service vehicles. Travel on the island is either by foot, bicycle, or horse-drawn carriage. Roller skates and roller blades are also allowed, except in the downtown area. Bicycles, roller skates/roller blades, carriages, and saddle horses are available for rent. An 8-mile (13 km) road follows the island's perimeter, and numerous roads, trails and paths cover the interior.[40] M-185, the United States' only state highway without motorized vehicles, makes a circular loop around the island, closely hugging the shoreline"

It's be the same cable service vehicle serving elsewhere, which came aboard a ferry.

Don't you love technology? I honestly think that sometimes my telephone is trying to punish me (perhaps for starving it for so long without a recharge). The things I write are starting to read a lot like what I see at engrish.com

Still, I wonder what a horse-drawn service wagon would look like...

Hmmm...

Sorry for neglecting to say so earlier, but I was actually wondering about a horsedrawn Electrician's service wagon. For that matter, what would a horsedrawn electrician look like...
