I was lucky enough to pick up a vintage Pathé Baby film projector at a Yard sale here in France.  It was a period electric conversion, which retained its hand crank, and I bought it for very little.

The wiring, and 110 volt motor had a look of danger about it!, which made it more appealing to look at in my opinion, but I decided that as a projector, it would make a better Table lamp!

I knew I had a black flexible lamp in my parts bin, so with the aid of an old shower hose and some plumbing fittings, I set about the piecing together and re-wiring.

on completion, I didn't like the empty space where the bottom reel would have gone, so I looked around in my clock parts, and found a quartz movement and case which would fit.  The dial was horrible, so I cut some alloy sheet, and added some brass rivets to make a 'new' dial.  The clock is simply held in with an old electric fire element coil.

My wife has decided that it is now hers, and should grace our sitting room side table, I'll never be rich!.

Very nice conversion. A dark lamp, if you like...

I am jealous of those dangerous looking bits, the controller, the wires and that excellent motor!

Fantastic - particularly the dangerous bits, as Mr Plasm says.

Wow - you seem to have rather superior yard sales in La Belle France, and it has indeed made a very elegant piece.
