I am saddened to hear of it. He was the best Holmes, I thought, truly bitter and sarcastic, misanthropic with a glitter of manic intelligence and wry humor. I  loved his Holmes. RIP Douglas Wilmer, indeed.

Yes, an excellent Holmes. My favourite in the role, I think.
A ripe old age and working until near the end.
