It is with great sorrow that I must deliver the news of the passing of Captain Lyerly. He was a great man, a good friend, and he will be sorely missed.

The word pagan came from paganus , who mean peasant . Its was a way to significate than christianism was the religion of the elite and paganism the one of the savage worker class.

This is where creativity comes from—experiment, do something different, maybe even something forbidden, and voila! A breakthrough occurs! Ha! Ha! We are released! The world is created anew! Do something backwards, break your own traditions, the barrier breaks; destroy the world as you know it, let the new in.'' Extract of the Dreamflesh article ''Path of The Sacred Clown''

Persons intending to travel by open carriage should select a seat with their backs to the engine, by which means they will avoid the ashes emitted therefrom, that in travelling generally, but particularly through the tunnels, prove a great annoyance; the carriage farthest from the engine will in consequence be found the most desirable.

This is hitting a bit harder for me after work today. Was his last post on Christmas Day? He was apparently still perusing these pages until a week ago. Thing is, he was the only one who would recognize my obscure anecdotal references to Spanish (as in Spain) culture such as 1980's rock groups and whatnot. We never got to see his plans on modding an old army vehicle if I remember correctly.

He spent many years of his Navy career in Spain and always enjoyed sharing stories about his time there. The truck is still stock and has been parked for some time now...

No worries, the good Captain's widow has an account. She asked me to pass the word to this community and I am sure that she will check in after some time has passed...

No worries, the good Captain's widow has an account. She asked me to pass the word to this community and I am sure that she will check in after some time has passed... I did not see this thread and did not know about Chas passing until I saw the email below on my work PC today after being out of the office since Dec. The good Capt was part of our old Maryland BG group and we had the great joy of meeting him and being enthralled by his tales. 'He will be missed' just doesn't cut it, but it will have to do. markf ++++++ This is to announce that the memorial service for Stuart will be on Saturday, April 23, 2016, at 10 a.m. at the Lane Funeral Home South Crest Chapel, in Rossville, GA (which for those of you who don't know is immediately south of Chattanooga, in fact as you are driving from one to the other, if you miss seeing a fairly small sign, you will not know you are in a different state). The burial will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery in Chattanooga. All of Stuart's family, friends, shipmates, fellow cowboys, debating partners, fellow enthusiasts, etcetera, are welcome, including those he never met "in person" but only online. As I am not active on Facebook, Brass Goggles, or the Armour Archive, would any of you who are active in those online forums (yes, it should be fora, please bear with!) please spread the word in those places, and also please help me reach anyone who knew Stuart who may be also not active in any of those online "locations." Thank you all for your friendship and your help with getting word out to the rest of Stuart's universe of friends. Joanna ++++++++
