River Festivals : What do the Best ones have??

 I have been seeing  these river festivals/ revivals  mentioned on the internet.  A poster on here is advertising one  on the Ohio River  in Marietta that looks interesting.

The  ones I stumbled upon  had people dressing up old timey, side shows ,folk bands ,  raft competitions  and mass wedding ceremonies.   How many more out there  are there  and what do they entail.

 We have some big rivers here in New Zealand , but I haven't heard of any river festivals . I am thinking this is a shabby omission on  the part of  river towns here.

I thought we had one here, but I cannot see any mention of it.

Brisbane had the Riverfire event, culminating in a Dump-and-burn by strike fighters, but may not now as those aircraft (F-111 Aardvark) are no longer in service. I was there one year and actually dined in a restaurant whilst waiting to go back where I was staying. Southbank was blocked off apart from foot traffic for safety.

Another poster told me about the Murray River paddle boats in Perth . Do they have a festival there.?
