I found this entry in Wikipedia:

It is a list of Zeppelins constructed in Germany before the second world war. Included are brief histories of each of the airships.

What is really striking are the short life spans of most of the ships; very few seem to have been in use for more than a year before being destroyed.

Some like the ZMC-2 and R-100 were scrapped before their time.  Much of the construction just had a finite lifespan like ox guts and painted fabric.  There are much better materials available today as well as onboard storm radar.
