Is it necessary for this to be in "Off Topic"? This is a link to an article about wonderful helmets from mostly the 16th and 17th century, which seems to have been the golden age of weird armor.

At the first steampunk convention that I ever attended I saw a couple of guys in helmets that looked like they came from Gwar's costume wardrobe. Helmets seem to have declined in popularity at subsequent local events. Too bad.

There are quite a few with very intricate designs there, nice.

Thanks for the link, I have a steel replica Gladiator style helmet, which, someday, sometime, I intend to embellish a bit, this could give me some ideas. Bookmarked for the future.

Doesn't it just blow one's mind at the level of craftsmanship that was achieved back then!
The repousse is astonishing.
