Much obliged, friends. Though I will say I've been doing this for a fair number of years -- it's a relief to find a board with good writers, for a change. Plus, I thought I'd be original by doing a story arc based around Indian/Nepalese martial arts (which, to this day, nobody knows much about).

Now, I've been trying to discern an exact date on this thread. From what I've gathered we're in the 1890-1900s, but I'm unsure. Anybody know?

Dear Dr. Ed,

Very impressive, sir!

I've actually been hoping to work some of the more southern Indian and Indonesian martial arts in, myself. If that's the direction in which you'd like to go, we may have the possibility for some very interesting material.

As this is a fantasy universe, the time-line isn't fixed. While I generally assume approximately the same span of years as do you, I've been known to play somewhat fast and loose with chronology when it suits my purpose - for example, I know that some of the medical technology (that which isn't outright fantasy) to which I have made reference is anachronistic to a strict fin de siecle time-frame.

Ah, Indonesian martial arts... I've always been fascinated by the Pentjak Silat styles, what with there being 800 or somesuch spread across a couple thousand inhabited islands. No two seem to be alike, yet one could have their pick of Silat styles and effectively cover all types of fighting. Should make for some very interesting material indeed.

I mostly asked about the time because I was curious if certain historical events were taking place in this alternate past as well -- i.e. the Boer War, the Philippine-American war, etc. It'd be interesting to think of these conflicts in regards to steampunk technology and how warfare would be affected.

I'm all ears, though I'm pretty sure I know what the job entails. Sounds like a plan. You can PM me if you'de like to discuss details off-board.  Smiley

I'm fascinated by the silat styles as well, particularly the more dance-like ones that are traditionally integrated with music and storytelling. My character concept most likely lends itself better to Varma Kalai, though, with its connections to Ayurveda and Tantric disciplines.

Well, Lilli is off the Boheme and back in Austria.  Now she just has to deal with the family ghosts...

I'll put in occasional posts on the Egyptian artifacts theme.  Lilli and a few merry madmen (NPC's) will retrieve the artifacts and re-unite all of them in London.  When they reach that point, that scenario will be ready to include all of the players again.

I will miss Lilli already and Emma will have quite the tale to tell the captain when he returns.  I will be interested to see your posts no mater how sporadic they may be.

As for the timescale, I would say late 1880/90s. But the Boheme is powered by Rolls-Royce Condors, which were invented some significant time later, shh. Might be a bit early for the P-A war, but some of the pre-war events could be factored in. I'm afraid it's not a war I'm familiar with. As for the Boer War, it's entirely possible that the advanced technology has led to more of a stalemate and it is still going on.

    Dear Dr. Trakov,

I think your character is more interesting with his pet cat.  It reminds me a little bit of that Bond archvillian with the white cat.

@ Sir Nikolas
Nope, never read it, still saving up to buy it.
@ Vienna
That's what I was going for, although I think this cat is a tortoiseshell cat.

Harold, your health comes about our game, so don't rush yourself if you're not well.

Dr. Trakov - a nice character you have going on there. Very squirmingly unpleasant! (in a good way of course Tongue) Your post was even more evidence that the majority of epic disasters begin with a ping. I intend to die as a result of a decent ping Smiley

Ms. Bluestocking - I'll leave you to conclude Hediyah's labour, unless it's just a simple delivery and you're busy, in which case I can do it. We had better get back to the airship soon to see the nefarious infiltrators Tongue

Good to be back, I have to catch up on the game, get Nicholas paid for his errand, and then I have to ambush you guys after you leave Kabul.. I'm gald to see the new characters in there, and I must sya they certainly have added a lot to the game..

Cheers

I'll ask you to do it, if you'd be so kind. Today was a long day at work. Remember, we have some disreputable men to encounter before we head back.
Never mind the previous - I've got it taken care of. Smiley

My last post isn't as detailed as it was first set to be - there was a lovely detailed scene between Fabrice and Emma cooking, but I managed to press the back button on my browser. Cry So this is the pissed off version of that original post.

I was going to post something about George being annoyed he couldn't eat what they're cooking, but I didn't know if he would smell the goings on in this realm xD

I have had the computer eat my post many a time so I have taken to copying them into notepad until I am sure it went through alright and I have still accidentally deleted parts.

I hadn't thought about George being able to smell I will have to put something about that in my post.

Looks like George didn't remain a secret for very long. I think Emma is too honest and scatterbrained to keep him hidden for much longer.

My dear sir, do not trouble yourself! It was not a problem in the least. I am hoping that your obviously restored connectivity will continue; your deft hand has been missed.
