Though I'm not unfamiliar with forum-based roleplay, I thought it best to get the details in place here.
Where, and how, exactly, do we, well, do it? I see one immense thread at the top full of gaming, and a bunch of smaller threads dangling below it.
Do I wedge myself - or rather, my character - into the larger thread, or seek out a smaller one to gently integrate into the various matters?
It all seems quite awkward, having a cluster of semi-OOC threads as what seems basically bulletin-board looking-for-group info, and cramming all the actual gameplay into a single complicated thread...
I think all the real gaming is going on in the monster thread, though I think we could benefit from a split - on board the Boheme, London, elsewhere etc. To everyone - sorry for my absence. I'm in the middle of a spate of exams and I can't really fit too much writing in. Posts from me will be few and far between until July, I fear. Feel free to play with me You know what I mean.

Yes a split might help spread new players out a bit and bring life back in to the original London story line. I hope no one minds that I launched us but I didn't see any reason for us to keep hanging around.
I wish you tons of luck on your exams Ben they seem to be hitting everyone around here pretty hard this year.

I second this. It might just be because I'm new, but I'm thoroughly confused, and the monster thread makes my mind boggle, what with all the subplots and massive story. I feel a bit hesitant to just throw my character into the already established story, too. If anyone could give me a rundown of how RP-ing usually goes on here, that would be really, really great (:

It is not as scary as it looks I promise. Most of the earlier plot is kind of dead so you don't have to worry about it much. I have a rather condensed version of the plot in this thread somewhere. Right now The Boheme is flying through pirate infested mountains in order to make it to Shenjing in time to pick up a package and it looks like a battle may pop up at any time. You really don't need to know the plot that in depth to start. I know I didn't.
Right now Steam London is the active game but I think some one else is trying to start a pirates vs civilized nations game. That one you could get in on the start of.
Mainly the rping is like telling a story from lots of different points of view. You post, some one responds, some one else responds to them, you jump back in and so on. Most of it is easy going and you can always ask if you are unsure if you can do something, you want to play with other people's characters or you are looking for a hook to get you in. And you don't have to join the Boheme their are plenty of reasons for ships to meet in the skies and band tougher for awhile. Sorry if I am not entirely coherent explaining this is harder than I thought it would be.

I'm afraid I will have to make the same request, as I just cannot seem to commit to this game. I imagine it's been somewhat of a burden, having to remember my character is still there, when I haven't been doing anything.

Well, we are soon to run into a run-in ( ) with some Russians (I think) over the Kush. If no-one claims the Count, he could perhaps join in and end in a fiery wreck, but it would be a shame to kill him off. Perhaps we could leave it ambiguous enough so if in the future you find yourself with more spare time, you could resurrect him. Sorry for my prolonged absence, I really do feel guilty about it. But hopefully this week I'll be able to post more, and then in a fortnight or so it will be business as usual. And Captain McCannon, I assure you - I have no idea whatsoever what I'm doing And it's going fine for me. Jump in, post, and see what happens. I propose that we split the thread into various stickies from now on, each with a brief 'story so far' blurb. So rather than one 'STEAM LONDON' Game Thread, we would have 'STEAM LONDON - General', 'STEAM LONDON - Boheme' and 'STEAM LONDON - London' and so on, for each plot thread meriting its own thread. By all reckoning, it's become very hard to jump in. It was hard enough for me, and that was back on page 5! Oh my, how this game has come along. Anyway, I hope that you are all well, and with luck I will be seeing more of you soon Yours, Ben

Just running an idea, that I suggested to Dr. Trakov. And considering he will be absent for a while, I thought I'd just post a possible event.
(I'm sure that He would not mind)

It looks like Capitan Black has caught up with Emma and the Boheme. Just a reminder before we go on the attack HAC would like have the encounter end with Black's ship crippled, and the Boheme, intact, but a bit battered with safe escape so he can be a returning villain.

I think George is going to barrow Emma's body for awhile. She has little experience with weapons and is night blind and he has neither disadvantage. Plus it will be interesting to see how he acts with Patrick in his borrowed skin.

Be warned, like the mighty Cutchullan of Patrick's homeland, Patrick has a tendacy to go a little...*ahem* Celtic, during battle, especially with an Aetherium-powered death-dispenser in his hands.

At some point during the wee hours this morning, my poor computer went to its final reward.
Sadly, my moment of silence for its passing shall extend until a replacement arrives. I'll be offline until early next week, I fear.
