Spiffing. I'll get right on it.
Edited to say: I'll NOT get right on it. This needs some thought. Plans to rob the tower of london....excellent.

A small challenge, hah. Well, I'm just about keeping up with the side story, though I think it will need a couple of re-reads before it makes full sense. Seems very good though Incidentally, what happened to the man that I was going to meet?

Dear AFGNCAAP,
I hope you don't mind me introducing Demetri's uncle Henri to the scenario. We had PM'ed about him earlier. I needed to keep pace with the others adventures, so I wrote him in and will get him on the Boheme.
Vienna
Thank you, Vienna...I've been inhumanely busy, but now I can finally pick him up. Thanks again...

He is a vampire, after all... though interpretations of vampires differ, and I'm not about to argue with Sir Nicholas on his! I agree with the praise on Lamont - I spent a lot of time studying Irish mythology, so I was curious about the obvious connection to the Fair Folk! Further, I am amused by the confluence of names - perhaps, in a true Gothic-novel twist, we will discover that Lamont and Lakshmi are distantly related?

That would be rather neat. Oh, by the way, I don't think that Ben has met Emma + George yet, hence the tone of the post. If he has, tell me and I'll amend it. I think I was off chasing limping urchins when Lakshmi was off talking to her.

This is a silly and off-topic question, but I'm curious....who cooks on the Boheme? Lilli is a passenger, but she can presumably put together sandwiches and fruit. I envision the one culinary activity she is good at is making coffee. (I suspect that schools for young ladies in the 1800's sort of assumed the students would have a cook in their household).

Otherwise, the crew might take turns cooking. Lakshmi could most likely manage a few pretty credible Anglo-Indian dishes - mulligatawny, kedgeree, curries and the like.

The shared cooling idea makes since. I don't know how many extra people the Boheme can hold.
Emma isn't a very good cook but George is.(At least when it come to meat his baking is awful but Emma's isn't too bad) Most of what they know is pretty simple because they were both fairly poor when they were living tougher in London.

I'm doing a few "tap-dancing in place" posts to fill in bits of the backstories while waiting for the crew to continue their action.

Done a bit of a shove post, to coin the phrase Kabul was the only place that we had to go to before Shenjing, wasn't it? It'll be a shame to see one of the crew leave It is getting a bit crowded though

Dear Ben,
Whoops! I don't intend Lilli to leave the Boheme just yet. I posted what her character was thinking. Mr. Umbrella will placate her by (falsely) promising to send a message to her father from Kabul.
