Well, I have to work on Fourth of July.... the joy of retail. At least I am getting time and a half.. Maybe if I'm not too tired after work I will go join the party that the rest of my family will be at.

My plans are to watch the opening day of the Tour de France and make, and eat, Tove Jansson's Lighthouse Keeper's fish pie (with carrot in the pastry Shocked ).

Though the drinking of root beer may be required for nostalgic reasons.

If you hear someone utter the words, "Hold my beer and watch this," run for your life!

Mentos also work with root beer, but I've never seen that trick with actual beer.

It usually involves some form of combustible material, high explosive, and/or large power tool.

Because we live in such a forested city, fireworks are strictly forbidden in most of city (Travis County), and usually fireworks are only allowed if sponsored by the city along the banks of the Colorado river (various large man made dams we call "lakes").

Nevertheless we will get a few people violating the ban.  They'll drive to Williamson County and buy Tge fireworks from roadside vendors...

The word pagan came from paganus , who mean peasant . Its was a way to significate than christianism was the religion of the elite and paganism the one of the savage worker class.

''Trickster shows us how we trick OURSELVES. Her rampant curiosity backfires, but, then, something NEW is discovered (though usually not what She expected)! This is where creativity comes from—experiment, do something different, maybe even something forbidden, and voila! A breakthrough occurs! Ha! Ha! We are released! The world is created anew! Do something backwards, break your own traditions, the barrier breaks; destroy the world as you know it, let the new in.''
