Recently I was doing a bit of research about the introduction of commercial touch-tone phone service in America, which was publicly introduced at the Worlds Far & Exposition in 1963.  I was quite surprised to discovery the technology to do such actually was researched and developed in 1887.

So, based on that premise, Her Majesty's citizens might have had touch-tone phones in their possession, if not only government officials and the various police-fire agencies first being so wired.

More to follow as soon as blueprints and patents are available for posting.
