A thread for scribbling personal oath as a steampunker.

I choose the dark side of steampunk but not the dark side of the victorian age
I choose the pagan poetry of art nouveau and arthurian romance, not the sorrow of neo-gothism
I choose the jockiness of the working class, not the puritanism of the aristocratie
I choose the ruckus of pubs, not the silence of dark alleys.
I doesn't choose the darkness of opression but the darkness of arnachy.
I doesn't choose the light of heaven but i do choose the light of raging fire.

Your turn.

The word pagan came from paganus , who mean peasant . Its was a way to significate than christianism was the religion of the elite and paganism the one of the savage worker class.

''Trickster shows us how we trick OURSELVES. Her rampant curiosity backfires, but, then, something NEW is discovered (though usually not what She expected)! This is where creativity comes from—experiment, do something different, maybe even something forbidden, and voila! A breakthrough occurs! Ha! Ha! We are released! The world is created anew! Do something backwards, break your own traditions, the barrier breaks; destroy the world as you know it, let the new in.''

I choose to walk the thin line between life and death.
I choose to walk the thin line between intelligence and insanity,(me and myself both agree).
I choose to walk the thin line between between good and bad (sometimes rubbing out the line completely).
I choose to walk the thin line between friend and foe (sometimes both at the same time).
I choose to walk the thin line between the working class and the aristocratic class.
I choose to walk the thin line between peace and anarchy.
I choose to believe in those things that others do not believe in.
I choose to run on the wrong side of life as i'm the one you fear when you hold your wife (Abney Park - The Wrong Side)

I suffer from a random misfiring synapse and a bad case of wolfen the turns me into a seven-foot-tall werewolf or a seven-foot great wolf!

@#$ $^$#!! - sorry...Wink
I resolve to watch the gauges faithful, keep the pressure steady
To never push the red button, and keep the airship ready
To calibrate the Tesla coils, eschew the Menlo Parkers
And always cut the rakish dress, and never venture starkers...Wink

You Shall Not Pass!

no, wait that was the other hairy grey fellow....

How about:

 I won't be wronged.
 I won't be insulted.
 I won't be laid a-hand on.
I don't do these things to other people, and I require the same from them.

Personal? No. But I always liked this one:

The Doc Savage Oath

“Let me strive, every moment of my life to make myself better and better, to the best of my ability, that all may profit from it.
“Let me think of the right, and lend my assistance to those who need it with no regard for anything but justice.
“Let me take what comes with a smile, without loss of courage.
“Let me be considerate of my country, of my fellow citizens, and my associates in everything I say and do.
“Let me do right to all, and wrong no man.”

Or, as Duck Dodgers said when he accidentally got Hal Jordan's laundry one day
"In blackest day or brightest night,
 watermelon, cantaloupe, yadda yadda,
 erm...superstitious and cowardly lot,
with liberty and justice for all!"

The opinions expressed here are my own, and do not represent any other persons, organizations, spirits, thinking machines, hive minds or other sentient beings on this world or any adjacent dimensions in the multiverse.

I think my motto to myself is: Always be mostly exceedingly splendid and pleasant almost some of the time, and don't let it go unsaid that I was never not a gentleman.

freedom of the mind
freedom of the soul
freedom of the body

stand up for what you choose
not what is chosen for you
even when grounded

Someone ever tries to kill you, you try to kill 'em right back.
