I can just imagine the thought process. The layers of each piece fitting to the next. Then making it work thru a CAD type program. Then assembly. *phew* I love the rivets. The majority of it is aluminum, yes?
Welcome back!

Somehow it looks as though it blasts away all the soft tissue leaving a spine and rib-cage (slightly charred). Kind of makes the opponent look a bit like what they were shot with.

Thank you Prof. Cecily, I greatly appreciate the astute observation, and I agree, shiny! Thank you Maets, it is great to see you are around! Yes Drew! It is aluminum, I don't have the tools to do it in steel, but also, I hope, the aluminum keeps the weight down a little as well. This is my first solid foray into a true 3D build (swords are mainly 2.5D), it was certainly a challenging thought process, but I am learning! Thank you Drew, and I am happy to be back! Rory! You captured that destructive image perfectly!!! The very classical image of the old school raygun leaving a chard skeleton. Gruesome, but representative to the piece

That thing is freakin' gnarly! I really am partial to the more 'plain' grips. These are perfect! Not too fancy, just comfy-in-the-hand feeling.
I want to fold or push-in the bayonet (like a switchblade or stiletto), it looks like it almost wants to.
But yeah, I get the charred and slightly smoking skeletal rib-cage vibe from it too.
Most excellent! - g

Oh! Yeah! The bayonet is removable, a bit of a pain, but it slots in quite well. Also, good to be back Hector, missed the forums. Gregor, I have a lot to learn about grips still, so it was a keep it simple process there for sure!

A truly inspired design and one very well executed, applause and kudos !
My only suggestion might be something of a pommel or 'hammer' below the grip, such might provide a nice balancing aesthetic as well as a 'last-resort' tool for hand-to-hand combat engagements.
