My lords, ladies, and gentlemen,

My name is Paul "Wiggy" Wade-Williams and I'm the creative director at Triple Ace Games, a British games company. We mainly produce role-playing games, one of which is the steampunk inspired Leagues of Adventure. My apologies for my first post being a Kickstarter project, but our new non-collectible card game, Rocket Race, has been designed with the steampunk community firmly in mind.

Rocket Race is made up of 57 cards, 60 die cut counters, two standard dice and the rules booklet. The game contains two sets of Standard (which is for 3-6 players and can be played in around 10 minutes) and Advanced (for 2-4 players and played in around 20 minutes). In the Standard rules you purchase cards by means of an auction, using 10 cogs as your bidding pool. Cogs used in a successful bid go on that card and are removed at the rate of one per subsequent auction. Thus, as the game progresses your pool of cogs goes up and down. In the Advanced rules you have a League card, which has three skills - Electrics, Mechanics, and Chemistry. Instead of bidding you conduct scientific research to acquire points in each of the three disciplines, which you then spend to purchase cards. As you spend points your research levels drop, requiring new research.

The aim of the game is to be the first to construct a rocket, which must comprise of a Capsule, Propulsion, and Steering, each of which has a Reliability rating. Accessories can be added to help improve the Reliability. To win, you must roll your Reliability or less of 2d6. A roll of 12 is always a failure - no steampunk rocket is perfect! Delaying your launch until you have a high Reliability is not always a wise move - one player in our group has frequently sent up rocket with Reliability scores of 4 or 5 and won. In the end, it all boils down to the risk you are prepared to take.

The game is intended to be light-hearted and draws heavily from steampunk ideas. Capsules include Martian Salvage (from their abortive invasion and a Refurbished Mole Machine. Among the Steering mechanisms you'll find a Helios Engine and One Hundred Hungry Mice (which lean toward the Moon, it being made of cheese). Propulsion cards include a Volcanic Eruption, Anti-Gravity Pain, and Huge Cannon (as favored by the Gun Club). Accessories include things such as a Collideoscope (a radar system by any other name), Cushionomatic Impact Reducer, and Clockwork Autopilot (an automaton). There are also Event cards, which you use to foil your opponents' best laid plans.

We launched a preview of the game (and ran around 50 games) at UK Games Expo 2014 in May and it proved a great success. We've started a Kickstarter with the aim of getting the game into full distribution. You can find full details of the Kickstarter, plus a link to a copy of the rules at the link below.

My thanks for your time.

Another quick update

We want to thank all those who have backed to date!

So we want to give our early backers something special with a brand new reward. We have designed a special set of themed rocket component cards! The "Age of Steam" gold promo cards set includes a Refurbished Locomotive for a capsule, High Pressure Steam Jet for propulsion and Steam Vents for a steering mechanism! The gold 'look' backgrounds will stand out from the other component cards in the deck and the artwork featured on the cards will be commissioned from the same artist at the end the of campaign. "Age of Steam" Gold Promo Card Set "Age of Steam" Gold Promo Card Set.

Each individual card works as a standard rocket component but together they add a reliability bonus due to their engineering compatibility!
So how do you get these cards? Simple if your one of the first 120 who have already backed the project then you will automatically get them! Once we hit 120 backers this set of promo cards will no longer be available during the kickstarter campaign or after - so make sure you don't miss out and pledge today!

We've just uploaded a Rocket Race interview, in which we discuss the birth of Rocket Race, how things came about, and what the future holds.

We know that sales talk from publishers is designed to hype a game, so here's an independent review of Rocket Race based on the preview copy we released earlier this year.

With all the gold promo cards allocated, we're excited to announce a new set of rocket component cards! The "Liquid Courage" set of silver cards will be awarded to the first 240 backers. If you already backed our project you'll be getting these cards automatically. If you're joining us in the Rocket Race party then you'll get the silver cards from today!

We've designed these cards for high-class lunarnauts who like to mix their drinks! However, mixing alcohol and rocket science together might be explosive in the wrong way! This rocket packs a punch with a Second-hand Still for a capsule, One Million Champagne Bottles for the propulsion, and Pressurized Yeast Boosters for steering. When its all strapped and bolted together, its unclear if this contraption will make it to the Moon or not, but if you can combine these cards during game play it will help to boost Reliability!

The silver look backgrounds (not foils) for these cards will stand out amongst all the other cards in Rocket Race and we will be commissioning the artwork for the set from one artist for a coherent look at the end of the campaign.

Once we hit 240 backers these promo cards won't be available. Also these are Kickstarter only cards so don't miss out and become a lunarnaut today!
