Not a persona, but my forum name. Picaroon means pirate, from the Spanish word picarón meaning naughty, mischievous, a rogue... etc.

Hmm, my name was actually inspired by my favorite character from RedvsBlue (an online web series featuring Halo and hilarity). A friend pointed out that it actually fits my personality quite well- I'm always the last to know something, always the last to follow suit, always the last to arrive; basically, I'm the caboose ~shrug~.

To apply a steampunk persona to it, I would have to think that I would be doing something related to trains. Caboose sounds very much like a sidekick name, so I would probably be a faithful companion to someone much more exciting and interesting. Probably the Teller to someone's Pen...or is it the other way around? Hm.

In my daydreams though, I would like to be Lady Olivia, Victorian Naturalist and Collector of Exotic Specimens. I would wear a lot of violet silk and satin along with my brown leather boots and my brass goggles. I would drink tea out of dainty, rediculously breakable tea cups atop elephants and I would never, ever sweat. In the words of Orsen Welles, I would glisten.

Lovely double meaning too- a cad being just above a bounder, but below a cove.

Finally developed an actual character for Amos Farrier (there are some similarities to me and him but the drunk/dead father is not one of them. Neither is being able to repair pocketwatches [unfortunately]and a few other things)

Character's full name:  Amos Robson Farrier
Gender: Male
Age: 26
Nationality/ Ethnicity: White British
Birthplace/ Home/ Place of origin: London

Appearance

Hair color and style: Dark brown with most of it slicked back, two or three strands hang down slightly covering the left eye
Eyes: Brown
Height: 5 ft 10”
Build: Very slim, slight muscle build
Distinctive Scars/ Tattoos/ Piercings: scar his right arm caused by a fencing match

Clothing: Often wears patterned or plain black waistcoats over a plain white collar shirt, black shoes and trousers, black tailcoat
Weaponry: flintlock pistol, rapier- doesn’t carry them around but keeps them in his rented apartment
Gadgets: has full supply of watch making tools and gadgets, due to his life as a watch maker, he doesn’t carry more gadgets than what he deems necessary

Personality: Very laid back, calm, well spoken and is often known to have a rather sarcastic demeanour about him
Fears/ phobias/ concerns: Doesn’t cope well with air travel due to fear of heights, is constantly concerned that he won’t be able to pay the rent for his apartment
Special talents and/or skills: skilled watchmaker, expert fencer, knows how to street fight very well due to his upbringing in a rough neighbourhood, very observant and a generally good judge of character

Fighting Style: Will use his sword if it’s at hand or if he has no other choice, very adept hand-to-hand combatant and can be quite vicious if provoked however he tries to avoid a fight at any cost

History Of Your Character: Being brought up in a rough neighbourhood saw to it that Amos developed a rather untrusting character and to the fact that he could seriously hurt someone should he be forced to. His father was a drunk and his mother died giving birth to him. He made friends with an elderly watch maker called Newt Midgeley in town and after years of struggling to merely live at all with little to no money, Amos asked to be an apprentice to Newt who eagerly accepted. Being paid by Newt, Amos was able to pay for both him and his father for a while. Shortly after the death of his father, Amos found relief in fencing and became quite adept at it. Years later Amos was considered the second best watchmaker in London (under Newt Midgeley) and had earned enough money to rent out a higher class of apartment and maintain a living. Currently, Amos is in partnership with Newt Midgeley running their own watch repair service at `Midgeley & Farrier Timepieces`.

Hi there! Brand new to these boards. Pleased to meet you all. I go by Synecdoche (pronounced sin-ek-do-ki). Not named after the town, but after the word. Don't have a whole lot for my persona quite yet...but I do have some costume plans in the works, oh yesss my preciousssss.

Me, I'm an artist. I make masks! And comics. Lately I've been blending my mask making into steampunkry, creating mask-goggles and the like.

Hmm... This is my, what, second post here? My first was on the 'recount your adventures' thread, which then had no reply for ages. I was a little disheartened by that ^.^
Anyhow.
'Ninjakitties' is by no regards steampunk, I suppose, but I needed a name for my Smackjeeves account. I was partway through a Flash animation about a ninja and a kitty, so...
By now I've used the name on enough sites that I don't think it would be sensible to change it, so here I am, stuck with Ninjakitties. It's sorta cute though, so I shall survive.

Do you have link to the animation? It has two "win" factors in already.

And coincidentally, sums up how my Significant Other tends to dance...

hello everyone :]
I am new here, only joined today. Its my first forum as well, so i am just trying to figure evrything out at this very moment.
My "persona name" is toxic liquid and it actually came from my other name toksick_d which i thought sounded more cyber than steampunk. The reason i chose toxic lliquid is because i was listening to dr.steel and Abney Park's The secret life of Dr. Caligari a lot lately :]

As this thread seems now to encompass forum names, as well as more "traditional" persona names, I thought I would join in the fun.

I have a standard name I use for online registrations, and the like; but I felt a forum such as this, with its distinguished sense of style and decorum behooved a name of a rather different calibre. In considering names, one I had once considered for a forum resurfaced, and I thought it appropriate for the atmosphere here. For as long as I can remember, I have been fascinated by isomorphisms - always finding them in my surroundings, however tenuous the link - and I supposed that the fictitious word 'Isomorphist' somehow sums up this behaviour. It is, of course, also helped by the fact that it sounds somewhat mysterious, and, perhaps, befitting of the mad scientist I am.

Good evening, most distinguished ladies and gentlemen of The Brass Goggles Society, may I make so bold as to introduce myself with my first posting.

In former days, when one was younger, slimmer and considerably more athletic, my maiden name of Miss Alice Band was known to occasion a certain frisson [cf Sir T P Ratchett's oeuvres] but since my marriage to, and subsequent widowing from, the Duke of Frugonia, Frederick, Count of Dun Loghaire and all 'round cad I have travelled the world beneath the moniker of Alice, Duchess of Frugonia.  Freddy was of an old family and, fortunately for me at least, died just prior to signing either the divorce papers or the transfer of his entire fortune to the poor creature who accompanied him on his first, and final, voyage in my anniversary gift to him of an, unfortunately, explosively flammable 2-person miniature dirigible.  The coroner was most kind and left his card every Thursday afternoon for the entire mourning period.

Were one to hazard an occupational title I suppose that Experimental Homeopath and Inhumationist might come close to describing my inclinations. Despite having retired from the occupation which took up many of my days and evenings during my single years to marry, I must declare that I do still take a deep enjoyment from a gentle perusal of the Alma Mater's texts or discussing formulae and formats with particular alumni over afternoon tea, and, whilst I was engaged professionally on a pleasingly regular basis then, now my abilities are utilised purely for personal pleasure or, occasionally, for assisting dear friends.

My compliments to you all and I hope our acquaintance will continue and deepen over time into the richness and confidence of friendship.

Alice, DoF

Xenos Markus O'Sullivan:  Father is full blooded irish, mother's great grandfather was quarter greek, and helped raise her before he was killed.

Current backstory:  He's 24 years old, moved to Dockside to try and get away from the slums of South City 101, and find a job where he could fly under the radar of The Slaa (SociaList Advancement Association-No, before anyone asks, I'm anarchist, the name was catchy).

When the reader first meets him, he's missing the pointer and middle fingers of his right hand to just past the first knuckle (hence why I was asking about a partial hand replacement).  He's an unemployed day worker, and his lack of fingers dont really help that fact.

As of current, that's all that's known to the GENERAL public, as I've yet to write any more on it (been dealing with, ah, personal issues).  He's about to meet a girl, and she's got a couple of... well, quirks...  But you'll just have to wait till I get more written to find all THAT out!

Captain Judah Ezekiel of the 7th Georgia Fire Breathers of the Army of the Confederacy.

In plain English he's a Jewish Confederate Captain of a Flamethrower unit.

(Roughly 10,000 Jews served in the confederacy, though I don't think any of them had flamethrowers.)

When I was a teenager I wrote a fanzine and my writer name was Dr. Margaret Heathen. I was in classically aweful band called 300 Chanting Heathens and I found a picture of a rather stern looking victorian woman called Dr. Margaret ( Margaret being my middle name also), so I used her picture on the back of the fanzine with her new name Dr. Margaret Heathen.
