Well its fairly round about. I have always loved the name Hannah. I think it's the right balance between older names and newer ones. It seems to fit in every era and genre, not to mention its been around forever. Plus its a palindrome. Plus it has the letter "H" in it which is my favorite letter next to the lower case "g". When creating my Steampunk alias I knew that the name Hannah was a must.

The last name I got out of the Steampunk Name Generator. http://brassgoggles.co.uk/blog/steampunk-resources/steampunk-name-generator I used another alias I have. The last name came up Atwood and I fell in love with it, especially since I was considering the last name of "Abbot".  That's the story. Amusing?

I like simplicity and good taste, filibustering is not my style.  Anonymous and anarchistic are also states to which I aspire.  However, My New Friends, I am truly replete with admiration for ALL your idiosyncratic designations!  What Ho!

I spent some time playing around with anagrams of my own name, picking out which letters I felt I really wanted to include and which I felt were unnecessary. For some reason I discarded the O in my name almost immediately. I was really trying to think of something with a G, so I could maintain the initials G.B., but the results were nowhere near as pleasing as names starting with R.

The G.B. comes from two specific historical figures I'm slightly obsessed with and who I'm basing my steampunk persona after, Gertrude Bell and Geovanni Belzoni. Gertrude was one of the first real female archaeologists, who excavated in the Middle East at the turn of the 20th c. and Belzoni was an ex-military adventurer and archaeological excavator working primarily in Egypt a century before. I have a huge historical crush on the man so I gladly claimed his last name for my character.

So yeah, that's my budding archaeological explorer character name explained ^_^

Pretty simple explanation, Winston Smith was the protagonist in George Orwell's novel '1984'

Dr. Marion Lively.
Marion is a name I've always thought suited me as well as (even better than?) my given name, and when I realized two puns could be made from it (Mad Marion, a play on Maid Marion from the Robin Hood folklore, and Marion, Madman Librarian, a play on the lyric "Marian, Madame Librarian" from the Music Man), I knew it was perfect.
And Lively, simply because it sounds good and I think it's a pleasant sort of last name.

Tywyn is a Welsh name that I used in a roleplay. The full name is Tywyn Drake, or  "Seaside Dragon". It was about a water-dragon prince who was found on the seashore, washed up from his kingdom in the sea. And yes, I am a girl. I just happen to love the name.

It's the usual 'lorem ipsum' text, so yes, I believe that would mean that it's Cicero's (or rather, derived from Cicero's).  Smiley

Well I'm new to the forum (sure, I'll admit that.) My persona is a wordsmith (writer, but I like being fancyschmancy). Wicked, I would think is fairly self explanatory. *ahem*

My persona name is chosen from traditional Victorian names that I really liked, slapped together because they seem to flow well.

Jerome Bigsby is my steampunk persona, although, I have inserted him against his will into a Call of Cthulhu one-shot, a flintlock one-shot, and a longterm steampunk campaign, each of which took place in worlds in which he does not reside. He has since returned to his own world changed for the better (and even brought some friends back from the steampunk campaign. He's quite the traveler, I suppose.

Cat burglar and nobleman, although luckily enough, few enough know about both. Or knew. They do now, and he's on the run. Funny how characters tell you what they do, rather than you telling them.

That has long been my observation as well. It's very... fulfilling to hear someone else say so.

My only concern is that my characters come back to untie me at some point, preferably in time for the next meal...

He derailed my plot a bit ago when he simply refused to do what I thought he would. Where it led is now, I think, more interesting. Not as bad as when he bloody fell in love with the wrong woman.

The way I came up with the name Sky Captain Sariel N. Alwinn came from me mix and matching characters from my stories and my role playing sites. In the story I am writing currently there is airship pirates; which I am. Sariel is due to the moving the S with the A from Asrial. The 'N' in the name is  Nicoletti the last name I chose for one character and Alwinn is the last name to a professor in my story. That's how my name came to be.

Lucy is my middle name, and I usually go by that on the interwebs. Dragoon comes from the fact that I like dragons, and dragoon military squads are historically interesting.

At first I thought it might have something to do with Legend Of the Dragoon from PS1.  Love that game!!

Mine was actually recommend from the name generator and modified. I was recommended as Lucius styles, But I've always like Licurius better. It was either this or a name I've been using for ages, Skellum.

I wanted a mechanical-sounding name for a warforged I never actually got around to playing, and picked out Victor VonUhrwerk (Vicor of Clockwork) because I liked the implication he was German engineering.

I kept the name for one of two clock-makers I'm trying to write a story about, but didn't have a second name. I finaly chose Lothar Erfinder, because I thought Inventor would be a cool last name, and I wanted to stick with the German notion.

Plus it makes for a nice name for their clock shop: Uhrwerk & Erfinder's Horological Emporium.

the DR. title of my name came from the fact that I am currently training to be an EMT, and kyler stern came from a particularly non-steam trilogy of books (the night angel trilogy) in which kylar is an assassin....but I thought that the name was more of a physician's name.

Feersum Endjinn is a great sf novel by Iain Banks.
I've been using it as a user name for years, but it never
fit as well as it does on this forum!

Billy O'Connor....O'Connor is my grandmothers maiden name the side of the family that gives me my roguish good looks and Irish Temper to boot....Billy because somehow....don't know when or why people started calling me that as a nickname...so it is one name I'd actually answer to.  It's also my stage name with the Hooligan Alley Irregulars.
