http://www.cthulhulives.org/Whisperer/trailer.htmlone of my favourite lovecraft tales, made by the ONLY people who seem to know how to make a lovecraft movie (and infact the only people making lovecraft movies until del toro starts Madness..) this looks rad. call of cthulhu was just perfect, so id imagine this will be too.

Is it possible? Are they really going to do the whole thing in black and white? Wonderful!
Never heard of this group before, are they an indie studio?

That fair brought a tear to the eye. The sound is especially splendid, real attention to detail.

yeah they are the HPLHS (H.P lovecraft historical society) they made "call of cthulhu" in the style of a 1920's silent movie. it was amazing and very loyal. They also did "At the mountains of madness" as a radioplay which was also amazing and actually scary. This is their next film done in the style of a 1950's talky. This looks as good if not better. The voice of the Mi-go! so friggin dark.. "ia shub niggurath black goat of the forest with her thousand young" lovecraft was a genius at this stuff..

I think this is wonderful news, and I am sure it's well done and all that, and even if it wasn't, they at least tried their best and didn't just do a splatter and slapped Lovecraft's name on it. I look forward to its release.
However, and this is merely on a personal note, and not meant as any kind of critique, I have always been... less than satisfied with how Lovecraftian names and languages are rendered in the English tongue. Surely, Howard was a speaker himself... But I don't know... The "Iä, Iä" part, for instance. It's "Iä" because it ISN'T "Ia", yet that is how people persists in saying it. I do believe the names were purposely designed to sound alien, but really little effort goes into illustrating that. The voice of the Mi-go in this trailer is supposed to be so abhorrently alien and insectoid sounding, yet I can do a fairly accurate imitation of it without any electronical aid whatsoever. Obviously, we can never know how Howard heard it in his head, and I might be far off myself. I'm sure I speak for myself alone when I say this.
At any rate, that INCLUDED, I am glad it has been made.

i think you have to remember people who have not read lovecraft will want to understand this, and to be honest i have always pronounced "Ia" as EEEEEAAAARRR..in fact its up to your personal interpretation. I love hearing those words spoken "ia! shub niggurath, black goat of the woods with her thousand young"..sent a chill up my spine!

You have to understand that here, where I live, ia is pronounced eye-oh-wah.

I, who has an Ä in my alphabet, pronounce it somewhat similar to "Yeah".

I wish that HPLHS was still doing LARPing. I would LOVE to be involved in that. But Call of Cthulhu was quality, I'm very excited for Whisperer in Darkness. (And, of course, Del Toro's adaptation of Mountain's of Madness. I will most likely die from excitement when the trailer comes out.)

By the way, this film is now out on DVD.
Funnily enough I now do a podcast with the Associate Producer (who now lives in Yorkshire).

Cheers Paul, I've received a copy from your good self. Now I've got to somehow hold out watching it until my CoC group's next meeting...

I pre-ordered the Dvd the day it became available, received the Dvd & promised my friends that I'd wait until they came over to watch it....I'm such a fibber, but have to now wait until its done the rounds of my friends who have pinched it
